cls, I agree with your post but I have to point out that the no child left behind was George W's education reform act of 2002. The first lady was a former teacher so the reform was kinda her pet project.
Thanks for the correction, I swear I heard Obama utter something in that regard a few times. That was on the 3rd glass of whiskey when I started refuting him. Then facebook started blocking me for spam when I was trying to ppst a link to news article about the lady in the Chicago area getting straw purchase charges dropped to probation and a small fine as why Chicago is so overrun with gang activity. Lack of prosecution and incarceration of true criminals while trying to remove the rights of law abiding.
I can't speak for all white people - just myself. I haven't tuned into a single football game this year simply because I don't care anymore. The Bears suck, and I just lost interest in the game. The league is a mess and the protests have only made it worse. While I'm sure there are some cases where this is true, it seems like you're painting with an awful broad brush. Now this I can agree with. I believe we all know the protests have nothing to do with being anti-America or anti-Military yet many of the undereducated folks out there are whipped up into a frenzy and just go with whatever their echo chamber on Facebook is saying. It's mob mentality at it's finest. However I do believe that many feel it is the wrong time to try and make your case, myself included. The singing of the national anthem should be a small window of time when people try to set aside their differences and embrace the fact that we live in the best nation in the world, in spite of our issues. Choosing that particular time to bring your issue to light probably wasn't the best decision. I wouldn't say it's necessarily anti-American. While I'm sure there's more than a few racist idiots out there flying it for that purpose, let's not forget that slavery wasn't the centerpoint of the Civil War. It's the most controversial thing to talk about and remember easily, but the Civil War was fought as a battle of States rights vs Federal Government rights. Slavery happened to be the issue at hand, but it was part of a much larger argument that some could say is still being fought today - just in courts instead of battle fields. Given the state of our federal government and many of the things that people consider as over-reaches of power by the central government, that Confederate flag doesn't seem as anti-American as it may seem on the surface. Just some food for thought on this Friday morning.

I do have to say that if a southerner has a rebel flag it is different than when some chuckle head yankee flies the confederate flag. Think about how sensitive people have become, the Dukes of Hazard with the General Lee would be too offensive to put on TV now.
While speaking of the Confederate Flag for a second remember when people would say during all these protests about removing the CF it’s only a Flag and doesn’t represent to all what people think, but now that these athletes are doing their protest during the National Anthem and we (myself) are against it the Left (liberals) are saying it’s only a Flag... lol. Wow so when the Right was saying it’s only a Flag speaking of the CF that didn’t sit well with the Liberals... now they are using that for their reasoning on the US Flag... lol. Funny the Confederate Flag speaks for a few, the American Flag speaks for all... liberals wow... just gotta laugh and keep going and pray for them
Why is it really so different? Can people from the North, born hundreds of years after the Civil War, not sympathize with the Federal vs State argument? Is flying a Don't Tread On Me flag looked upon the same way? The unfortunate thing here is not only has the liberal media twisted the Confederate flag to symbolize racism, but uneducated racists have also adopted it as their symbol as well. They just pretend it's not.
None of these opinions matter, the big picture is money and will always be money. The media knows this is a hot topic, so they will advance and overblow the issue because they know people will click/visit/comment on the topic increasing their ad/page hit/etc. Why do you think a "controversial" topic goes away when the next big thing shows up. We are nothing more than donkeys being lead by a carrot on a string. Causing a left v. right, you v. me battle is good for ratings and money, that's all and we all fall for it. Do you think the owners are really going to bench or suspend their million dollar workhorses? No, a slight reduction in profit/viewership is better than losing every game losing the franchise/complete fanbase. Eventually, this will be lost in something else and the "market" will level out as all things tend to do. The NFL will not go away, ever. They can do what they want, it's a free country, and I can do what I want, and I choose not to watch or partake in any of it. That is my protest, and I choose the side where I do not further the conversation. Pissing and moaning between our forum members will not solve the issue, granted, I assume many of these debates are simply held to opinions and have gotten a little heated, but I hope no friendships are lost here over an issue that does not pertain to the sport in which we all enjoy. I have my stance on how I feel about the flag and how to respect it, especially from a military background, yet using the veteran card for every dang controversy is getting sickening. It's starting to become the same as "you're racist" in my opinion. It's an easy card to guilt people into agreeing one way or the other, and it shouldn't be like that. That's my opinion, and if you don't like it, you're racist, hate veterans, puppies, redheads, brunettes, blondes... big bucks....ummm, game of thrones...and Justin.
