Let me add one more thing.
All my hunting is done packing my stand in & out. If I were to hunt predominantly form hang ons left out often with chances to be stolen. I'd be hunting from the absolute cheapest things possible, that I didn't feel were likely to fail on me.

Safety first! When I am on my way up/down a tree and will be anywhere from 12'-25' up I want good equipment. Though I did buy my "latest" LW climber used, I've added new camlocks, and have new traction belts ordered. Having said that.....one of my favorite hangons that isn't moved during the season is a Gorilla Wolverine with chain. Excellent stand I picked up on clearance for $40 couple years ago. I do need to replace the chain and bolts on an old Loc-On before season though.

I used very cheap stands when I got into bowhunting but over the past few years I have upgraded my entire arsenal. I now have two LW hang-ons (one set of climbing sticks), two Loggy Bayou Predator Pros, and two Gorilla Kongs.

The cheap stands I had before were probably safe enough...but my upgraded stands are quieter, easier to attach, lighter, and the LW & LB stands have adjustable leveling to leaning tree's (I now sit in some which would have been too uncomfortable before). It is much easier for me to move stands to different locations than it was before.

I believe upgrading my stands may have a greater impact on my future hunting success than any other piece of equipment I could have purchased.

I've had the same summit climber for the last 3 years. I bought it after my other two climbers were stolen. I use the climber 30+ times each season so I suppose I get my money's worth on that product.

Heck, I talk to so many guys who ask me how I can afford to go on hunts every year. The answer is so simple it is scary. I don't spend money on new bows, new arrows, new camo, the latest gimmick, whatever.

I had a guy tell me he could not afford to go elk hunting with me last year ($1500 plus license). He then went out and bought 3 new bows ($2+K). Makes no sense to me. This year my choices were either a new bow, or a bear hunt. That was easy:d
