hey its between hunting seasons and all kinds of weird topics like exploding arrows have come up. So does anyone recall the poison arrows they used for a short time around the 1970s? had a little rubber pouch on the arrow behind the broadhead that had some kind of muscle relaxant that would get in the wound and stop the heart of the animal. think it was just a couple states, Mississippi seems to come to mind as one that allowed it,. Never used them or thought it was proper, but some sick bastard had to be pretty ingenious to think it up.
Yep my dad and brother in law used them in Mississippi years ago. Legal at that time. I figured I was good enough without them. Never saw where it made a difference. A good shot brought down a deer. A bad shot even with the pod equaled a lost deer. Sent from my SM-T537V using Tapatalk
that's right, they called it a pod. I'd forgotten that. great to see we went another direction. would suck to get stuck by one. I can hear it now, "good news its only a flesh wound...bad news its got a pod.....".
I believe the chemical powder in the pod had to actually enter the animal's blood stream for it to work. So if you nicked yourself with a blade and some powder got in you'd be fine. If I recall the chemical prevents oxygen from adhering to the blood and effectively suffocates the animal. Pretty crazy stuff!
