Horrible shame. Sounds like you are taking the smart approach to resolve a bad situation. Good luck and so sorry for your little girl.

I had a problem with my neighbors dogs a while ago. I told them if the dogs cross the fence one more time, I'm killing the dogs and dumping them on their front porch. I think I got the point across, they aren't COMPLETELY stupid (even though one is a convicted rapist). Some people just need a good threat to figure out your serious. Hope you send them back to live with their mom/sister or something like that.

Geeze !!!! Sorry to hear about this rotten situation. We've been in the same type of deal with a neighbor's dog... twice. We talked to the sheriff and not his problem and nothing he could do. We talked to the mayor and not his problem and nothing he could do. I told the sheriff, mayor and the owner there would not be a third time... I would take care of it and it wouldn't be pretty.

There wasn't a third time. She thought I was a horrible person for threating to kill her dog. She gave it away to protect it from me. She didn't feel bad at all for the deaths, damage and the vet bills we had to pay on account of her dog and saw no reason why it shouldn't be able to run. She just didn't have a damn clue !!

I commend you on your ability to handle the situation. If it were me, it may be played out a little different. The way I see is the dog trespassed onto your property and killed your colt, why shouldnt you be able to kill the dog on their property.

I know your really not purchasing the property for yourself, but be careful with people like this. They will make you pay so much more in the end for fixing everything they trash on the way out. My dad is contracted through banks to fix these homes they reposess and its not pretty.

I can't imagine the place could be any worse. My plans are to demo and burn the mobile home. Its beyond salvaging. The property will then be cleared and fenced and I'll have another acre of pasture. Buying it will pay for itself too as my property value will go up as soon as that place is cleaned up. (oh crap...more taxes!)
