    Bruce,
That's Great! I taught both my daughters how to shoot and even though are both busy raising a family right now, I know they will return to Archery someday.

I do have 4 Grandson's to fill a lot of my time very soon :-)

Good thread Brett! Best part of my season was spending it with my kids. My son got a couple nice deer, and my daughter was on her first kill. We had a blast. Maybe next year dad will do better with the bow. I didn't even see a shooter this year.

Mike, those pics are wonderful. Those sure would make my year as well. I can't wait to get my kids out in the woods to hunt. To be honest, my 7 year old daughter seems to be the most interested even though my wife isn't real keen on the idea.

You are more than welcome to come hunt with me on some prime days at Quantico next year. I will do the scouting, you bring yourself and bow! And you won't feel so bad taking a buck that might be smaller than you would on your own property. However, I have a feeling if you come on the right days that you will see a shooter. :)

Man, GREAT pics everyone ;) love looking at them. I let my fairly new neighbor and quickly becomming a good friend of mine and fellow hunter, share in the recovery of my buck from this year as long as he promised not to give my hub spot away to anyone :D We spent more time cutting up and laughing in the woods than it took to get my buck out. good times ;)

And then there was the day I set my son a ladder stand 20 yards from my hub stand and got to watch him take his buck thios year :);) He hunted hard in bow season and turned down some little guys. He settled for for this nice 2.5 eight point on this day. My 10 year old also took his first two ducks this year. I need to get those pics loaded so I can post :)

    I have a few.

First.. the Mcghee.. the craziest creek you'll ever meet. On one particular morning with darkness all around us.. 2 guys from this forum nearly never returned from this one.

My favorite deer hunt of 2009. BY FAR.

The mock scrape I began way back in August.. terrible picture.. but great results.

The rub that turned me around. I was already packed and ready to head west again.. but this lone symbol put me back on stand that next evening.

And finally... my greatest hunt of 2009. Until this trout hunt on a cold and wild river in the mountains of Colorado.. I had forgot who I was.. and where I came from.

A lot of really great pics here

I suppose for me, this is about as best I can represent it...A beautiful adventure filled with a lot of ups & downs.

The end of a long drought for me, and ending it with my biggest buck to date.

Here's my small buck and big doe this year. My cousins are in the pics with me, my young cousin shot the fawn in the pic next to my doe, it was his first deer. He's already way ahead of me. He's only 14 :)

Here is a pick of my bro and me. He passed up on a few deer and gave me first pick on stands several nights to help me get my first deer. He taught me lots and showed me the way. Unfortunately he didn't get to shoot himself a deer, but at the end of the year i think it was a very succesfull season for the both of us. We are both very excited to make this year even better.

Same... Started my first year, ended up skunked.

Went to a friends farm in Smithfield VA yesterday with my son to end the season and thin their herd of deer (goal was 40).

Got one shot (scatter gun with #3 buck) - missed.

There were 6 kills - none for me. Good news is that I am invited back to hunt there whenever I want next year - 2.5 hour drive so not too bad.

My son and I have concluded that our season is over (we could still bow hunt some places on Quantico and Fort Belvoir) to focus on fly fishing the streams of the Shenandoah park. (and do some MUCH needed work on our house).

    Next year.
