That's a good point about Payton and the bounties. Not sure how I forgot about that. By no means was I defending anyone, whoever made the call should be punished. I wasn't sure what to scale the punishment to, but Payton is a strong case of coach misconduct to be used. If it is deemed Belichick was in the know suspend him the SB (unlikely) and the entire '15/16 season. He's been caught before and should be dealt with accordingly. Maybe even disqualify him from the HOF, set a strong precedent and deter future tinkering by anyone. If Brady was responsible and in the know, same could be said but he'd likely retire. I'm just glad I don't have much interest in this year's SB, I'll watch the game but won't be watching the 16 hour pregame show.
It does not look good. I would like to hear how many teams change the PSI to make it the way the QB likes it. Rodgers said he has them over inflate the balls because he has a strong grip and big hands and he gets mad when the refs take air out. I also heard Brad Johnson paid someone to make the ball the way he liked it in the Super Bowl on the radio.
I didn't hear where Rodgers said he makes them over inflate them outside the parameters of the rules. Just that he prefers an inflated ball. If the refs are taking air out before the game during their inspection is one thing, for him to back after and add more later is another. What Johnson did was prepare the balls inside what the rules state. He paid someone to do it, because it was the Super Bowl and there wasn't an opportunity for him to do so beforehand. I'm sure Brady isn't the first QB to have this done, but it does make me laugh that this is the first instance where someone has been caught.
Never understood why someone comes on a sports thread to say how stupid sports are. Its just a topic of discussion for the people that like sports or find it interesting. Nobody is claiming to be solving the world problems.
I was actually waiting for the NFL's official statement. BUT ya sure I'll weigh in. bear with my rambling... I think the whole thing SUCKS. it sucks that when you are on top and great, people are so jealous and can't stand to see someone do better than them or achieve more than they or there team can ever achieve, so people look for ANYTHING they can latch onto, to feel better about themselves by knocking someone down...it's pathetic!! shame on you.....stop and check yourself. jealousy is a true *****. HOWEVER...given these latest "findings" it's hard to say it's not cheating. the real bad part of all of this is that once again Belicheck and the Patriots are taking the hit for a group of players/teams who have been doing this for years. WHY? why is it ok for Aaron Rodgers, Eli Manning, the vikings, the jaguars, (and im sure there's more) to do this/alter the football? but because it's the patriots and they have been a dominant force in the nfl for over a decade that's when it's NOT ok?? should they have done it? NO....not when the entire world hates you and thinks you cheat to begin with. The patriots are being the fall guy again for a rule violation, that MANY violate. I guess I'm waiting to see what the NFL has to say...there are so many questions and only a few answers so far. I drive a truck overnight so like always I listen to sportstalk radio non stop, so I've heard it from every angle possible, from every corner of the country...I get it everyone hates us!! LOL!!! do i think the patriots pushed the edge with PSI? yes....2 PSI under? NO. the balls are kept in a 70 degree controlled environment and brought outside for the game. it was almost 30 degrees colder outside. with people falling on, spiking the ball and the temp drop, losing 2 PSI isn't out of the realm. I know when it's cold out my tires in my car drop pressure, i can see it on my dashboard gauge. but I don't know,,my brain says to go with that, but my gut tells me other wise. either way it's a damn shame all the way around, even if the NFL can't prove with evidence that the balls were tampered with, society already has it's mind made up, blindly/hypocritically/ignorantly saying "the patriots are cheaters" WITHOUT the facts. welcome to america i guess. the Patriots are now the Jimmy Johnson/Chad Knaus of the NFL. EDIT: hey SOTA your a friggen troll stop crapping over EVERYTHING....how does one get almost 2000 posts in 7 months????
Just watched a video at espn on the advantages of deflated balls during the weather they had. They claim a quarterback could throw further and less likely to fumble. I would say the wwe, I mean nfl should advance indy.
11 out of 12 balls. The Patriots would not do it if it was not an advantage just saying. Seattle is the defending champ on top so don't put the Patriots there yet.
Agree 100%. The world is out for you when you're on top. Maybe work and spend as much effort actually getting there than knocking someone/something down that is there. Agreed. I posted earlier that I found that a little ironic. I would say plausible except the Colts balls didn't drop from what I understand. Points to something funny going on. Yep, and nothing can be done about that. Their legacy in the eyes of the public is already tarnished now. Agreed again.........
The worst part about this is it seems the Super Bowl is almost meaningless now. It's like the game already has an asterisk next to it unfortunately. The whole playoffs have been a joke this year. The NFL is becoming a joke.

I agree. But did they test the Indy balls? I hadn;t heard if hey did or didn't, it was one of the unanswered questions. but ya the superbowl means nothing now to me.
I'm pretty sure did and I heard that today. Not 100% but somewhere in all the crap on sports stations Im fairly sure they were tested too and didn't change. Lot of unanswered questions still.
The game was the Patriots whether they played with a wet noodle, or a 10 pound rock. They deserve to be in the Super Bowl based off that game. Indy's inability to tackle, stop the run, or score was not the result of Brady playing with his balls. If anything the league needs to look at the week before against the Ravens. That is a game close enough where something like this could of possibly made the difference.
