Very valid points. It does go on in every major sport to some magnitude. Always magnified when it is a high profile player or organization. Whatever the case may be, it's still ridiculous and disrespecting the game. Whether it goes on everywhere really doesn't matter. p.s. another reason I love the game of golf. Nowhere to bend the rule or get an advantage. It's pretty much in your face.
actually grew up in northern Illinois.. Bears fan thru and thru.... I really dont care if anybody gets the SB Trophy... just take it away from the team that cheated to get there... and implement the 3 strike rule... cheat one more time and yer outa the league
I hope the Pats start the season 4-0, proving that Brady is just a cog in the machine, as replaceable as the next guy, if Matt Cassel hasn't proven it already. I'm pretty sure the back-up will be fine in those comfy 8 second pockets throwing 4 yard dink passes.
My thoughts exactly... 4 game suspension for knowing of deflated footballs. 2 games for assaulting your fiancé. How does that make any sense??? Such a joke.
One of those examples is unfair to the girlfriend. The other, is cheating your opponent. Big difference. On field vs. off field. And, I have no dog in the fight because I really don't follow the NFL.
So Tom Brady just "knew" about deflated balls? Come on now. There is no way that some equipment managers would take it upon themselves to steal the game balls after they had been inspected, take them to a place where they knew there would be no cameras, and remove the air out of them, then return the balls. TOM BRADY orchestrated the whole thing. He cheated his opponents, the league and the fans. Players get suspended for cheating. Most of the time, off field actions are not even dealt with until after the justice system has ran it's course. Clearly there were mistakes made in the Ray Rice situation, but they are not in any way related to this instance of cheating on the field.
I'm sick of people bringing up Ray Rice and making excuses for cheating. Rice has not even been able to get back into the league since INITIALLY being suspended for 2 games. What happend to Adrian Peterson and Greg Hardy? Perhaps someone can compare this offense to other players/teams who also cheated in Conference Championship games? Anyone? To those whining about the four games it will likely be ruduced to 2 after it is appealed.
I think it would have been more appropriate to make them play the next four seasons with OVERinflated balls.
Personally, I just want this entire thing to be over with. Sick of hearing about footballs that had air let out of them.
It will be none, the NFL has 0 proof. Rice got paid in full for missing those games, he won his appeal. If one wants to hate the NFL, here is a real reason. Do you know the tributes to troops NFL teams do on the big screen, those are paid for by the DOD, yes your tax dollars pays the NFL to promote an honor our troops.
The NFL has found scandals put them in the news and its a good way to keep people talking about football during the off season. I think you will see more of this for years to come.
Those DOD dollars are not just going to the NFL, they use them anywhere from high schools, colleges, minor league teams and professional sports teams. Their budget is 50 million dollars. That's not the NFL's fault we are spending tax payer funds for advertising for the DOD. If you really want to hate the NFL, realize that they have been classified as a not for profit organization all these years.
