I didn't bring it up because I figured others would laugh at it coming from a Brady fan... but this was one of the initial angles I thought of as well. Vegas can and does get to refs, whether we know it or not.
Good point. But even to a less degree. Is it not out of the realm of possibility that the ball boy brings the balls to the locker room, refs look at them, grabs them... yep good to go take them away.
If this was their procedure, then I can't imagine them having issues with them halfway through the game.
I guess it's possible for the ball boy to let air out of 11 balls but that would avearge 8 seconds per ball, not including removing and repacking the balls so roughly 6 seconds per ball maybe? Also, it may not be very accurate... unless practice makes perfect... Even though I hate the patriots, I think it's plausible for the refs to not have checked them as they should. It's funny how that hasn't been brought up really at all. That maybe not until was it brought up at halftime did they do the check they were supposed to in the first place. What muddies the water still more is the colts brought this up from when they played the Pats in November and the colts alerted the NFL that they believe the balls were not inflated properly. It was never made public because the NFL did not release it. I think that being the case the refs would have checked the balls, if they were told at least. I don't think this would have been a story had a whistleblower in the NFL not leaked the story to Kravits.
It really is just free pr for the nfl. They have everyone talking about it and in the end they will hand down something small to the patriots. I do think they are eroding their own integrity though.
They might claim that in public, but being in the national headlines day after day in countless outlets they are loving it.
I don't agree. The NFL has had a lot of negative press this year. The league wants the next couple weeks to be about the Super Bowl. Its for that reason we probably won't hear much more from the league regarding deflategate until the season is over.
I understand your point, but in the end the NFL does not look bad it will be the Patriots and currently the NFL gets mentioned hourly on some (maybe all) of the top news outlets.
They would have been the 2 weeks leading to the Super Bowl anyway. If anything it is a black eye and taking away, in a negative way, from the biggest game of the year for the NFL. Believe me they do NOT want this going on. That would be like MLB wanting news of Albert Pujlos testing positive for steroids the week before the World Series started so they would be in the news.
The NFL might not find sufficient evidence (or just make that claim) to impose any consequences. But if they find good proof I cannot believe it will just be a small fine for cheating in the AFC Championship game.
An interesting take I just read on some of the most recent reports... So all the balls were less than 1 psi under inflated except one. That ball was 2 psi less.... that was the only ball handled personally by Colts GM Grigson who also happens to be the one who started the investigation with the NFL. How funny/ironic would it be if they found Colts GM to be the one who cheated in an attempt to nail the Patriots on something they didn't even do? lol Highly unlikely theory, but would be amusing none the less.
Yes the facts come out now, LOL Please send apologies letters to : Greatest of all Time(Tom Brady) 4 superbowl champion way
I still think the ball boy switched out the full balls for the deflated balls in the bathroom where there was no camera to record him.
Lol... and to think a stained white suit in a city dump somewhere is the only thing that changed his future from an orange jump suit to the NFL HOF.
