The Brady press conference was just tough to watch. I've always respected what he's done in his career. Think he's one of the all time best. But.....wow....... That dude is simply lying about what went down. That was the most uncomfortable press conferences I've seen.
Unless proven that Brady did tamper with the ball, how can you punish him. Innocent until proven guilty, that's the american way, hence the reason Ray the murder isn't jail bait, OJ walked the first time, the list goes on... You can't punish any individual unless PROVEN they are the individual to tamper with the ball. If they can't prove anything then the only fair thing to do would be to punish the franchise, not one individual. With that said unless more evidence is more found I think all you "Patriot head-hunters" are going to very disappointed in the punishment
The most shocking thing out of that news conference was that the NFL hasn't contacted Brady yet. The NFL is supposed to be doing damage control, that's going to be a major setback there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The NFL is looking for facts, Tom is not going to provide facts. It is a spin formula. Bill did his presser and denied and passed it to Tom. They then checked which way the wind was blowing and the reaction from Bill's statements, then Tom had his presser and spun it further denied and passed it on to equipment managers. Make the guy who makes $30,000 a year take the blame and fire him saying his actions were not consistant with the Patriot way.
Interesting point I heard this morning... A coach is held responsible for all actions in regards to his team and upholding the rules. Per Roger Goodell during the Bounty Gate fiasco, stated that ignorance of the rules is no excuse. This was in response to Sean Payton referring that he did not know this was against the rules.
Dumbest soap opera yet...fans are eating it up though. It's doing a great job of pulling focus off of bad (crooked) officials though, just as it was supposed to.
This is not a court of law, the NFL can and does punish their players and coaches for conduct. Ray Rice suspension, Adrian Peterson suspension, Sean Payton, the list is long. They punish their players all the time for their actions without a chance for them to prove their innocence.
The NFL rulebook states that tampering with a ball is a 25,000 dollar fine. 11 balls were tampered with therefor the Patriots owe a 275,000 check to the leaugue plain and simple. With such a tight tolerance on the balls PSI, there needs to be a defined penatly to the rule. It's been defined now all they need to do is enforce the rule, Keep it simple
It doesn't matter if he's not going to provide facts. The NFL needs to show that they are actively trying to get to the bottom of this. They should've been at the patriots facility Monday afternoon talking to everyone. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I think they are hoping it goes away and brushed under the rug, which obviously isn't going to happen. They need to come out and do SOMETHING. The biggest game of the year is being seriously tarnished as we speak. Heck, casinos are taking the game off the board not knowing what the punishments are going to be (if any) for the Super Bowl.
The sad part is, if found that they did tamper with things, it won't come to light until after the Super Bowl. And, it probably will only amount to a monetary fine. Money, in this business means very little. Won't hurt them.
This exactly. The NFL without a doubt wants all their stars playing for the big game. I don't think they are going to suspend Brady or anyone for it. Vegas and betting is what drives this league more than anything. The Super Bowl is without a doubt the most heavily wagered game of the year. I haven't looked, but I'm sure that their is going to be an over/under prop bet on how many times inflation of a football is said during the telecast.
I guess I just don't see the big deal here. Outside of those who hate the patriots, most people don't seem to care. If it is found to be tampering with the balls, fine them for each one, and move on.
That was my lame attempt at trying to create a overreaction simular to the deflategate but to someone I don’t like and it benefits me. Know what I mean?
