If some QBs like more air and some like less is it possible the league knew about this, but since it has gotten this much attention they are now in CYA mode? It would not surprise me..
Only because it's the Patriots everybody hates them because they are the most impressive team in the history of the league.
It would me. If the NFL knew players were purposely breaking the rule all these years then yes, I would be surprised if they were just acting like they cared now. I also believe if it was such a widespread issue it would have came up before this. As competitive as this league is, this would have been brought to light before now if every QB and their dog were doing it, like many are claiming. Again, QB's have been scuffing and doctoring the game balls for years, but that isn't against the rules. Deflating them after the refs inspect them is.
how about this then for years MLB knew that the elite players were using steroids and said nothing until they retired or were close to retirement, then their response was we always suspected it but now you can't get into the hall of fame.. I know we are talking football but for years pro sports in general have been complacent to infractions for the most part unless they get caught with their pants down..
Thats what dismisses the weather argument. How would a dozen Colts balls not lose pressure and 11 out of 12 Patriot balls lose pressure. They were playing in the same conditions. I would rather say Gronk was on the sidelines spiking the hell out of them.
Fair point. Baseball was on the edge of extinction after the strike until the steroid era brought it back. So yeah ol Selig turned his back on it because chicks dig the long ball, and he was starting to see money roll in. However, there were no regulations, rules, or testing in place to limit what MLB players took or put in their bodies. The players found a loophole in the rules and used it(although I'm sure some of their supplements were illegal within U.S. law). The HOF discussion is a tricky one for this since the HOF is supposed to be withheld of the utmost integrity for the game. However take a look at who they let vote on it, and it sort of shoots that theory down. On the other hand, it's the history of the game. The 90's and early 2000's were definitely part of the history. Either way, I don't think any of them ever make it in. I just can't fathom how competitive the NFL is, that another team, player, coach, etc wouldn't have complained about this in the past, or the refs would have found this happening before if it was such a popular practice.
There were no rules against it and baseball did not have the ability to test because a collective bargaining agreement.
BREAKING NEWS!!!! Bill Bellicheck says he had no idea about the balls being deflated. Shocker. Cross hairs on Tom Brady.
how about Pete Rose if anyone deserves to be in the HOF it is him no one in the game has ever played with the intensity he had......lol sorry couldn't resist.. but really he should be in....
Listening to Brunell on First Take. Pretty valid point. There is no way in the world anyone is going to tinker with those footballs if the QB didn't want them a certain way. Doesn't look great for the golden boy lol.
oh well I guess he can ride off into the sunset with his millions then after he gets his next ring...lol
I believe Bill when he said he had no idea, I think Bill was lying when he said he heard nothing of this issue until he got to work Monday morning.
Well the golden boy has a press conference at 4 PM today. I can't wait to hear his answer when someone asked if the noticed if the ball was deflated. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Someone mentioned how Rodgers like his football inflated. Cant say the league had no clue guys were doing this, it was broadcast on national TV.... http://vid809.photobucket.com/albums/zz11/mascho030916/Football Central/ScreenCaptureProject295.mp4
I can't wait for the worlds reaction when Roger Goodell announces there's not enough evidence to prove the patriots tampered with the balls, and therefore cannot punish them. oh it's gonna be great!!!!!!!!
I'm pretty sure someone was doing something with those footballs. That we can all agree on. Whether Belechick new anything is up for debate. Perhaps it was between Brady and the ball boy? I'm willing to bet that the NFL either doesn't find enough evidence, or makes a statement that they've learned its a problem around the league that isn't policed enough so we cant punish NE because everyone's doing it. On a side note. Deflated balls wouldn't make a 38pt difference in that game. NE flat out man handled them.
Yeah that actually won't surprise me. However the game balls were tampered with if the refs checked them, so who did it?
