First buck in 6 years with a bow. I saw him about 150 yards off in the hay field with some does. I grunted at him a few times and he came running. To be honest I didn't think he would respond, but when he did it for me pumped. He came in worked a scrape I was setting over then gave me a 30 yard broadside shot. He ran 40 yards and fell over.

Quick question for yall about the scoring. How many mass measurements will I have on a 6pt?[IMG]

Congrats man! It’s always nice to get that monkey off your back. Great picture as well.

To answer your question, every buck will get 4 mass measurements.

Way to go Mudlake. Nothing like a first buck with archery.

I can put him there, but I like to wait for the official green score from the taxidermist. If he doesn't call me this week I'll run over and lay tape on him myself. I rough measured around 143, but did not take time to tape off lines and antlers like I would if wanting precision.

Sounds good Ty. You answered my real question. I was mostly curious about what he might score. My son in law and I were guessing around 145.

Yeah I'm usually 2-3 inches low with my quick conservative tape over the years. I suspect he'll gross around 145 as well. Such a cool and unique buck with a big frame, but shorter tine lengths and spread make his "inches" less.
