First morning sit in two years. Missed the entire season last year thanks to Covid and this year has been a mess with both my Mom and Mother-in-law having a lot of health issues. I saw three small bucks and a doe and her fawn. I also saw a nice buck at a distance with a good drop tine. I hope to get a better look at him again because I think he might be a shooter. I will be back at it again tomorrow.

Took afternoon off to sit for my reduction zone buck on my property. I apologize now if I shoot one of the three targets….they’ll trump my buck I shot lol

Just saw another new young buck. Kid you not that is about number 20 I think on my 23 acres of different 1.5 and 2.5 year old bucks. This is getting old lol

Well, things are stalled here at camp for the time being. Shortly after Steve and Eric left I started getting what felt like a cold. I felt pretty bad for a couple of days and yesterday I felt better. I feel pretty good right now but this crap had moved to my lungs, which is what I was afraid of.

It's breaking up and I'm getting it out slowly, but I don't know for sure if I'm getting better or worse. My brother and his son are here at camp now and I don't want to make them sick.

I'll see how the day goes. If I feel worse I'll probably pack up a few of my things and go home for a day or two. It's only 30 minutes from here.

Oh, and Steve, I didn't get this from you. This is definitely not what you had.

LC, take care of yourself and get well soon. My oldest son just went through similar crap and he was down for a few days.

My hunt last evening ended up being a wash-out before I even saw a deer. Thunderbolt and lightning, very very frightening me! No Fandango.

Gusts of over 50 mph today, so all work and no play. Bummer too because a friend of mine saw my target buck yesterday evening on one of my spots with a hot doe. It will push 200" I am pretty sure. It was solid 180's last year as I got his pictures while I laid in bed with covid. lol But, don't expect me to hold out for that one deer, he is impossible to pattern and it will take a stroke of luck to get a shot. I will take a solid mature buck at this point and save another tag for the big one so I can get some points on the board. I will be after it hard this weekend. Lets do this!

Firearms opener here tomorrow...which will find me patrolling the road along my property rather than hunting.

With that in mind I may try a final swing at my place with the stiff winds here 20 MPH with gusts - good direction though for deer to funnel down through plots with wind in their favor and mine...might as well see what happens.

Thanks Rick/Brett. I just try to help where I can.

Firearms season opens here tomorrow also and I am planning on going out with only my bow.

    Should be very interesting.
