I’m a little stressed right now.

I have two daughters who bought houses.

My youngest daughter’s household goods are in PODS that are being delivered tomorrow and I have to be there in Tennessee to help. It’s kind of funny that I’ll be unloading PODS in Tennessee that I packed for them in Oregon.

My other daughter’s closing date was delayed. Now she closes on Friday but she has to be out of her current house on Friday also. Also, this daughter has three horses but her new property isn’t fenced.

So, I’m driving 3 hours south tomorrow to help the youngest get unloaded and then come back home.

I’ll have Wednesday to load up my trailer with everything I need to fence in a horse pasture, including the fencing, posts, etc that I’ll have to buy and early Thursday my wife and I will drive separate vehicles four hours north, unload, and then use the truck and trailer to move my other daughter’s stuff to the new place. The Air Force won’t let her take the days off so her mother and I will have to move all of her stuff ourselves.

My wife will come home that night to take care of our animals and I’ll be staying to fence in enough pasture so the kid can at least move her horses to the new place.

Of course, I’ll be hunting the weekend mornings and evenings while I’m up there and I’ll be hunting the same place I wounded the big one, so that’s the one up side to this.

I’m not looking forward to the fencing. I even considered asking Ridgerunner3 or Foodplot19 for help since they live close, but it’s deer season and they have their own things to worry about.

I’ll get it done and I’ll be glad when this is behind me. I’ve been unable to schedule any hunting trips for the future because I didn’t know when this was going to happen. I knew it was coming, just not when.

Good luck LittleChief. That is a little bit of work there. Tomorrow I’m headed up to Idaho. To help my son finish a project that he was called to do at the last minute. It’s a long story but he is a good man to be doing it.

Well still haven't and probably won't hunt any of the early urban time on either of my spots which qualify. Regular opener is the 1st and I don't know if I'll find myself in a tree yet or not. I am beginning to realize all the crap happening really has zapped my desire or happiness normally associated with hunting.

I'm sure the first hunt, so long as nothing else happens, will zap it back into me - we'll see Friday actually has pretty excellent winds for a favorite stand of mine but is a tick earlier than I normally go and try it.

Keep your head up Ty! I know first hand how it goes. One year about 8 years ago I lost every property that I had except for one and I felt the same way. Looking back now it kind of turned into a blessing. Just remember that everything happens for a reason. Get out there and and enjoy one of the things that we’re blessed with being able to do.

For sure brother, in the end as I've told others and now myself - in the end hunting isn't even important enough to allow to wreck days let alone weeks. My son is healthy, wife and I doing awesome, job to fund our lives and a God that despite everything sees value in me. I know I know...this is a forum don't go deep, but its true.

I've actually decided I may slip near a riverbottom peace we have hunted for years but mainly the top of an oak flat above the bottom...the field had a house built on it and nowhere for our plot so moved a stand right on the edge of a steep incline that overlooks one of only two "gradual" spots they use to exit and enter bottoms - I can shoot to the trail at the bottom which wraps the bend in the incline too. Wind will carry scent over the bottom which sets on the down wind side about 60-80 feet down really as I'm up 20 at least and that side of the hill is 40 feet steep at least.

Made it back home from Tennessee about an hour ago. We got my youngest daughter's household goods unpacked from the POD and into the house last night. I also managed to get all of their furniture put back together.

My wife and I made the drive there yesterday. The POD was supposed to be delivered between 12:30 pm and 3:30 pm. It showed up at 5:30 pm.

At that point at least one of us had to go home because we have six dogs that need to be fed so the wife drove home and I just stayed there for the night. My son in law and I finished at about 10:00 am this morning and he drove me home.

I will still be making the 4 1/2 hour trip to my other daughter's house tomorrow because she has to be out of her current house by Friday, but her deal on the new house fell through. The seller didn't finish the remodel and reneged on quite a few items. There was also no dryer vent in the laundry room. He said he wasn't doing any more work and pulled out of the sale.

At this point I don't know where we are taking my daughter's household goods but it has to be done. Oh, and it's supposed to thunderstorm all day tomorrow. I wouldn't have it any other way.

The only bright point in all of this is that @Ridgerunner3 saw my post above. I didn't think he would, but he did and he called me and was all set to show up Friday to help me auger the holes and put up fencing. Eric, you are a fine young man and I really appreciate you being ready and willing to help.

More than welcome, sir. Hopefully the next few days things will smooth out for you and your family. And of course, do not hesitate to call me if needed.

Sorry guys been a little bit. A short hunting update from me... Have been out a few times when we get either really good pressure or a cold front swings in which is very minimal up here this time of year. Have been pounding away on public to find shooter bucks, and finally stumbled onto where a buck I have been now hunting for 4 years and watching for 7 years showed his face. At 8 years old (we are thinking at least) this is the very first daylight we have of him in 7 years of trail camera photos. Going to be a crazy game of cat and mouse, and have to still do some more investigating on where he is feeding but I may have gotten close to where he is bedding. Fingers crossed just to see him on stand.

So gonna be warmer than I’d like and not ideal winds (like stronger than 7 for predictability) but tentatively plan is to hit that ridge overlooking a bottom route out/in. Only reason they’ll use it atm would be if they’re hitting the oak flats up top.

I’d probably shoot either buck or doe if given a good chance at a mature one.

Picked up some antlers this morning. On my way to breakfast at my local spot and I saw this buck dead on the side of the road. Went ate real quick went home and got the sawsall. You can never have enough antlers laying around. 4DD165BF-050B-42A2-B26D-BD369D7A5B08.jpeg

What a day. We got up at 4:00 am, left at 5:00 am and drove 4 1/2 hours to Whiteman AFB. We picked up a U-Haul trailer and started moving our daughter at 10:30 while she was at work. It took two trips but we finished at 5:00 pm, drove back to Whiteman AFB, dropped off the trailer at 5:30 and made the 4 1/2 hour drive home. We got here at 10:16 pm.

I'm not old yet, but I'm too old for this crap. My legs and lower back are really hurting since they were already sore from Tuesday when we started this morning.

Good luck to any and all today! I believe that all of our seasons are open as of sunrise on this beautiful morning!

I unfortunately won’t be out until Sunday evening as long as the weather cooperates. It will be right on time for an early October cool front but it is supposed to bring some rain, as long as it’s not pouring I will most likely be on stand by 4ish Sunday evening.

Yesterday after work I finally made it to my last spot to weed eat a trail to both of my stands on this small 12 acre piece and it is looking great this year. It’s a small property but hunts big with all of the surrounding timber and relatively low pressure (2 guys hunt the surrounding 85 acres very seldom).

Again good luck guys, let’s show ‘em why we’ve got “Champions” next to our name!
