    Thanks Brett.

Don’t be killing any deer with your truck.

Ty praying your Dad makes a fast and complete recovery.

We got lucky wifes covid was mild, she just felt tired with headache and cough. She's fine now, her quarantines over. I've been fine so far.

I saw five deer. Four does and one six point.

I could have killed a doe this evening but I don’t want to mess a good buck spot up recovering a doe at night.

I ended up having to scare the six point and two does away with a laser pointer.

Which brings up a question. What is a six point doing running with two does?

Maybe a yearling 6 point that hasn’t left momma yet?

Great way to start the season out Chief! Always a good hunt when you see deer and know you could have killed one.

I think your right about the young buck with the does. Most years we see the same thing here on some part of the farm. Deer don't always follow the script on how their suppose to act.

    Good luck on the hunt!

Heading out now to drop off 3 tree stands at my moms house. I have around 300acres to hunt over by her house. Then I’ll take the 4 wheeler over maybe tomorrow so I can drive them in. Where I want is a long haul and some tough terrain. I’ll pull a couple camera today also. Some have been out since march( hopefully I turned them on). Good luck little chief and anyone else who is out. I have to wait until October 1st which is ok since this is the least I’ve been prepared in a long time.

    Headed out tomorrow morning
Cameras show activity higher in the afternoon but with temps nearing 90 I’ve opted for a cooler 64 degree morning instead
Then Tuesday & Wednesday afternoon hunts as temps are to be 79

It was raining when I got up and the weather said it was going to rain until about 2:00 pm so I went back to bed and slept in.

At 10:00 the rain stopped so I headed out and got set up at about 11:30 to sit the rest of the day.

Id really like to let the new V3 draw its first blood.

After reviewing the chips nothing to exciting. Best one was a spindly 8pt. He would probably get a pass. I was surprised of the amount of deer on camera though. Of course 1 camera didn’t take any pictures but I see 2 heavy trails where it was so hopefully by next weekend I’ll have my stand set up in there. Mosquito were brutal today. I’m going to try to get 2 stands up tomorrow and the other 2 next weekend.

She’s in a cooler on ice, all checked in (very important), I’m back at my hotel having my first celebratory beer and all my gear is ready for the morning.

I’ll be buck only tomorrow. If I take another doe it’ll be Tuesday morning, my last sit this trip, and that will only be if I don’t get a buck tomorrow. The wife doesn’t care for me bringing home three deer to process any more.

I first spotted her 150 yards out walking west from me through the beans. I figured she would keep going, but she hit the far field edge and then fed all the way back to me and I shot her at 18 yards. The new Grim Reaper Whitetail Special blew through the on side scapula and exited the other side, but she ran off with my Nocturnal sticking out of her.

The farmer came and helped recover her and brought his UTV. We had to backtrack the blood trail to find my arrow since it had pulled through.

The broadhead is in great shape for a big 3 blade mech that went through bone.

I love the new bow. That arrow was in here before she even flinched.

The V3 drew its first blood.

Here’s a pic of the Grim Reaper:
