Good morning guys! Sorry I’ve been MIA for a bit, I’ve been swamped at work. I’ve been back and forth from home to central Indiana installing a machine and have barely had time to think. I’ve been following along a little bit.

I’m going to get out a few more time to try to get a couple does but it won’t help us out at all. We’re down but definitely not out! We still have a great chance to 3 peat as long as we get some promised does, and another buck would not hurt at all!

So few of the group can still only knock down an antlerless for points - you, @fletch920 @Oldcarp

The ones with only a buck as an option - Me, @Brett Smith , @ash d

Guys with either option @Mudlake3 @S.McArthur

Now I don't recall off hand perfectly but I believe @Oldcarp either is done now or has a week of hunting coming up....Fletch and you have nearly promised 100 points combined... Ash is trying to make it happen as we speak.

S.McArthur I think said he might be done for the year.

Mud has been MIA truthfully since that doe they lost blood on @LittleChief you want to message him an email perhaps? Wouldn't that be something if he is sitting on some points for us???

Otherwise Zach....you and Fletch get does, me, Brett and Ash come through even with say two fergies between the three of us....we'd have the lead by a slim sub 30 points....

This is quite possible, but I am thinking one of us five that still have a buck tag might need something to happen or a few more suprise does added too.

My plan is to get out Saturday afternoon and possibly Sunday if I don’t shoot one Saturday

From my camera today a small buck and some does in that area. That buck will be 50pts no more if I get a crack at him

Impromptu hunt this morning. State forester coming today at noon…I know worst timing but would make sense if I shared reasons. Long story short rain next two days to hopefully wash scent from our walk today but best scenario is a decent buck walks by this morning before he comes. Almost brought muzzleloader but didn’t bow in hand.

I said that, but I’m just whining again. I’m hard headed and will probably keep going out at some point.
I have not seen a buck worth shooting, and I’m not shooting one just for points, so 50 points might be all I can get done unless something worthwhile steps out.
I’m might try again Thursday/Friday evening and maybe the weekend.
Statistics should start to favor me at least one more time this season.

Somewhere out here, this print belongs to either a raptor or a good sized deer.

Well fellas nothing moved this morning and got down and knowing forester was coming did small in season walk of the property and got to see which crab apples hold till now (noted) although none but one can be hunted given location…

22 active scrapes hit last 72 hours or less and I stopped counting. Found a rub on a tree as big a round as me and I’m not skinny lol

Forester merely confirmed what I knew I bought years back and that was just an insane quantity of oriental bittersweet and bush honeysuckle and a couple thousand callery pears.

he’s gonna help me get EQIP money to have a team come and treat the BH and OB while I will need to handle the pear. I don’t like the idea of property wide hit of the stuff because temporarily you’ll lose a ton of cover, but by year two weed bed will have taken over minimum and I’d assume third and fourth year woody shoots will have started thickening things up nicely.

I convinced him to let me in mean time do a lot of top cutting for mineral shoots rather than girdling or hack and squirt as I want cover on the forest floor above all else. The callery pears he said he knows deer love them but I gotta have them gone by fifth year check in on site he will do. Fine by me gonna mineral stump cut them all and let deer gorge. Might hinge one or two this winter for food and pull them then in spring.

buck wise checked what cams I had running and guys I just missed two bucks by hours or one day off more than I care to count. Just Sunday I didn’t go and if I’d got my butt there the blind I was gonna sit had a decent buck that with my year I’d shot. Been about 116-122 I’d guess.

I'm heading out this afternoon. I have to figure out if one of the 900 rifle hunters will be there or not, hopefully I can get on something good.

As for the deer track: There's a two week "cycle" if you will, from when I found the first track to the second, if that buck is on a 2 weeks rotation cycle, I should see him this weekend. Hopefully during daylight, but this is also super wishful thinking. My luck it'll be a huge club footed spike.

Whish me luck fellas, I need a 200" buck.

Here we go, met the other guy, seems like a good dude, he’s a bow/saddle hunter so I’m not freaking out as bad. I put him on the field edge, I’m back in the deep woods on the shelf. I haven’t hunted this spot yet so hopefully it’s the right spot.
Im leaving my stuff out here for the morning unless I drill a monster Buck this evening. The “family” is rifle hunting tomorrow so I needed a spot away from those knuckleheads.
