It is always hard to sacrifice what we love for those we love. But, it will be worth it in the future when he is old enough to want to spend Halloween hunting instead chasing candy.

I’m not going out tonight. I’m beat. I’m going to shoot the 3D target a little then early to bed again to get back at it again tomorrow.

I have four sons and one daughter. Three of my sons love hunting and fishing. My other son loves to fish and football. He played all thru high school and still follows football heavily. My daughter will still go fishing with me here and there. Her husband goes hunting with us.

Getting ready to head out. I want to take the climber because the wind is slightly off from my ladder stand but I hate taking the climber in the morning because I can’t see what type of shooting lanes I’ll have. I guess that’s part of the game. I’m wearing my heavy gear this morning I froze yesterday that’s probably why I feel like crap today and my tonsils are swollen.

    Good luck ash!

Bucks are moving, my biggest buck showed up on three cameras. Two cameras are over a mile apart.

Good luck to rest of team hunting.

pretty sure @LittleChief fat finger disliked this

    that’s awesome brother!!!

I’m back up a tree this morning. Same as the last few days. Just out of bedding overlooking a scrap and the shortest and easiest access I have so can hunt constantly BUT need easterly winds. Today is the last easterly before switching to a lot of southerly. Fingers crossed

Thanks Ty and good luck to you too. A squirrel climbed up the tree about a foot away and gave me the business. I just froze and he went away. Nothing moving so far.

My dads hunting finally started and sadly the grandson/owner issues at the one spot are not over…

he sends me this picture attached…now mine you no one asked if they could use our climbing sticks is bold enough, let alone hanging stand literally next to someone else’s….but they have the thing facing out into a nature preserve no one can hunt.

we talked with DNR before we even hung the stand given proximity, I bet my house they will shoot out into it.

pops is fit to be tied….

Ty, pull your set and move on. Leave his stand up the tree without sticks. Hate to say it, but that is some crap. You guys don’t deserve it and its not worth losing a friend over his idiot grandson.

Tomorrow will be the definition of insanity. I refuse to give up on this spot. I think I’ve sat there 2 or 3 times last year and once this year so far and have not seen a deer. Had a couple pics of nice bucks there after the season. I know they are on that property I just need to be there at the right time. Going to try a very light rattling sequence like the deer did in the field tonight. This is an older pic but I’ve seen deer like this and some bigger there. It’s supposed to be in the high 20s in the morning. Time to hit the hay. Hopefully I’ll have good news to report tomorrow. F0DC7C42-1BC4-442E-98B0-A772765FDDBC.jpeg

Honestly that stand at least will be removed and sticks because the kid essentially just gun hunts and he hung that stand looking off the property and has zero shots back onto the land his grandfather owns. He will not use our sticks to do illegal things.

Pops and I plan on hunting out our remaining time before the gun opener when we aren’t allowed out there. Once the season is done we are having an actual sit down meeting where the landowner is going to have to face some music and actually make some decisions.

Most likely scenario is that we are done out there or we concede the best parts of the farm to avoid fighting, keep a different portion of lower value area for us and roll forward with it being vastly different but retaining some area.

Either way we are done dumping hundreds of dollars into the place yearly and will not be no matter what the outcome is.

I sat it out this evening. Helped out around the house and watched football. Trying to decide where to go in the am. I haven’t been seeing anything move real early so I might not be in a rush to get in.
