Well I posted in LFS I had a young 8pt encounter this morning. Had him broadside at 8yards. I was sure tempted not sure if I can let him slide twice but it’s early in the season. I’m going for the home run tonight over at another property where I’ve got some good pics and encounters of some NY big boys from last season.I was going to try to stay out of there until a little later in the month but I can’t fight it and the winds not to bad. My dilemma will be if I see a doe whether to take it or not because the only way to get it out is by 4wheeler and I don’t want to blow up the area. Nice doe farmer rick.

Saw a little spike at last light. Checked my camera from that spot when I got home. The angle of my stand is wrong for which way the deer are traveling so I’m going to move it next weekend. Nothing but a couple does and small bucks. I’ll be back out in the morning but that will probably be all for me until the weekend. I would normally hunt mornings but they have us on overtime until 2am. They should know I hunt and not be eligible for ot.

    Good luck in the morning.

The two does flying by and the neighbor that bumped them are all I saw during a 5 1/2 hour sit.

I'll be back there in the morning to give that spot another try and then I need to give it a long break.

Well this weekend was yet another bust going for a big ol nanny doe. I swear when you want to shoot a doe they are dang near impossible, but going after a buck and you will be covered up. ugh! Anyways, things are starting to pick up here in Wisconsin with some minimal sparring and scrapes getting more regular. Should be good in the upcoming weeks.

I did get out for one evening sit and to my surprise, I was fairly organized and the hunt went pretty smooth. I slipped in without incident and had a beautiful evening. I saw a doe and a fawn and 6 bucks. The smallest was maybe 110" and the biggest was pushing 160's. All in all, a great sit, but nothing close enough to shoot. But, its always fun to see a shooter and know you are in the game. We got a nice rain on Saturday that will really boost the newer plots and keep the clover plots in great shape into Fall.

I never made it out this morning. I’ve been taking care of some stuff around the house. I plan on getting out Thursday morning it looks like there’s a cold front moving through Wednesday night it’s going to drop the temps around 10degrees. Hopefully that will trigger a little movement.

Quick update from me...still haven't made it out...but the family trip over and of course the cold front with it...I may hold off till Thursday and cut out early to hit a stand that praying if corn is still in COULD be killer...I've killed two bucks out of it in the last 4 years now or 5 I believe including last year. Friday, I'm gonna try to fight the urge to morning hunt and if I do go out it will be purely setting up in a new spot to observe the spot I want to morning hunt come late October with binocs.

The trip to Iowa was a downer.
Saw two doe on Saturday morning but they were 75 yards and headed straight south...I was to the east.
Saturday night I busted two doe when walking in. Saw a opossum and a skunk
Sunday morning there were 6 doe...came from the west and stayed 168 yards away as they walked straight east...

I didn't see a single deer this morning. I'm guessing that the neighbor stomping through the bedding area of the deer that travel my property while he was scouting has that spot boogered for a while if not for good. I'm going to stay out of there for a good two or three weeks.

I won't be headed back to Kentucky until the 15th. I guess I have three options: Try to figure out how to hunt the uber-thick 14 acres I got permission to hunt, hunt right behind my house or take my travel trailer to Mark Twain and do a little solo camping. Being colorblind I don't care for being alone while hunting. Of course, my wife is only 30-40 minutes away from where I'd be.

Congratulations Captain! That's a beautiful buck you put down this evening! I went to post that I'd shot a doe and saw folks commenting on your kill and I almost didn't even bother.

Well guys I did some thing tonight that I wish I could do every day of my life! The picture is a little deceiving, but he is a great dear that I would never pass up especially in Michigan. Just some rough numbers I am guessing him to go low to mid 30s. I will post a couple more pictures tomorrow along with measurements and then I will put them in theScorecard thread.. Congratulations again Mitch! That's a great looking buck!

Actually it looks a lot like the one I've been chasing here at home.

Oh, hey Captain, don't forget your two pics with the deer and your bow.

Alright guys sorry to keep you waiting, sorry to keep you waiting but I did a little celebrating last night.

As I said it was a pretty uneventful evening in the stand. I had one long doe sneak up behind me around 6:15-6:30 and never presented a shot. A few minutes after that I had two fawns come out in front of me. After those two milled around for 10 minutes or so they kept looking back to where they came from. My initial thought was, moms coming out.

I had just looked at my phone, 7:01. As I looked up I caught a glimpse of a deer butt heading into the woods about 60 yards in front of me, again I thought it was a doe. Then 3 small bucks appeared where the one went into the woods. My whole thought process changed as I saw the small bucks.

The biggest of the smaller bucks, which was a pretty little 8 pt about 100 inches was poking around the other 2 so I decided to throw out some grunts and that when I saw my deer raise his head from behind a bush inside the woods, game on! After I grunted the 8 pinned his ears back started grunting up a storm and was walking stiff legged right to my stand. As soon as the 8 started grunting my 10 busted out of the woods and into the beans, started grunting and began to spar with the 8. He stopped in a bare spot at 25 yards, I drew, took a deep breath, and touched the trigger.

The shot seemed to be in slow motion and I saw my fletching disappear right behind the shoulder. He ran about 60-70 yards, made it just inside the swamp and all went silent!

Thanks Ty! I know man, if he has 2 inches of deductions I’d be very surprised.

Wow great buck Mitch! Great pics too! Exciting hunt when you have that much action with the other bucks and be able to grunt him in! With you making a great shot on him I'd say you had about a perfect hunt! Congrats!
