My set up at buddy’s I’ll be up so long as safe trip there happens. He said this spot gets blown up come gun season but piles of deer right now and likelihood of a doe coming by is about as high as anywhere on his place.
Usually an excellent three year old calls it home yearly and gets killed come gun season by neighbors so he said kill whatever would make me smile - he just wants to see me have something good happen this year

I tried getting him to say doe only but he wouldn’t, I’ve seen bucks killer (both giants or under a guys standards) by another cause friendship rift - he absolutely said all he’d do is give me **** if I kill a yearling or young one but will freaking smile ear to ear seeing a friend happy. Solid dude and a guy hunting brought us together bout five years ago but he probably gets more knowledge of my hunting and seasons than anyone alive now.

Here’s to hoping a shot happens and fifty points will be happening this afternoon/evening from me fellas.

haven’t been set ten minutes and a yearling six or eight worked past. They’re harvesting to my west which means anything bedded in this set of timber should work my way especially if they harvest clear till dark

Well shot two deer. First one landowner pulled off sparse trail and we think one king deer. The other died in sight. Antlerless for points tho.

Way to go Ty! Congratulations on the kill! I happened to be in the right place at the right time and it was entered four minutes after you posted it.

Have to ask though, what was the second one you shot and what does "one king deer" mean? I'm kind of tired so if it's apparent and its just going over my head I apologize. One lung?

I figured as much after I sat and pondered it. Anyway, congratulations again Ty. That's a little bit of a buffer between us and that other team.

Just a touch more information on hunt. I’m not used to seeing a ton of deer, just not he areas or properties I hunt are not piled up with deer.

Last night after twenty I stopped counting. Never thought I’d get a shot as except two buttons nothing was closer than 90 in the picked corn.

Then winds started shifting and a lead doe of a group of five I think caught my scent or at least something and eventually worked back my way. She eventually got to 26 and walking towards so I drew when behind a tree and she got to 20 and was quartering to half stomp walking and squirrelly so when she opened a tick less quartering I squeezed it off and sadly I knew instantly wasn’t executed perfectly. Shot was just froward too much and chance entrance was in front of lung and exit would catch front of lung. She made it out of the field.

Then in last ten minutes from the interior of the woods a single deer walked right down trail to 18. No antlers seen and looked bigger than a fawn in the quick judgement so shot - it died in sight. Was a youngin lol - will eat good.

We had good blood for the first one for first hundred but it was bright red like a muscle red, not a ton of bubbles. We kept tracking while good blood was happening but it got real thin about 160 yards…tracked another hundred or more and we’re getting deep into a neighbors (we called) sanctuary. My buddy called it shortly after as he truly didn’t think she was gonna be found and he didn’t want to blow up a neighbors bedding at the cost of that relationship for a doe (as bad as that sounds - they however have a deer number problem).

So my season of not the best things happening even bit some last night (only third archery deer not found and it sucks)…but it was an insanely good thing to decompress on the drive there and the drive back and sit on an unfamiliar stand and just relax.

I actually intentionally shoot them at the property with all the problems as the landowner has always wanted one - most meat for him as his requirement is a yearling. He will not be getting one from me this year however most likely.

I might consider shooting one late season off my ground too as I have plenty of young bucks to grow.

I know it’s not deer. I will be in Kansas on Nov 16 thru the 26th. Hopefully in those 10 days I can get some points on the board.
It was the opening of the duck hunt for us. My oldest son and one of my granddaughters went out with us.

So tomorrow we have a chance of rain around 10am, I have been dying to get out and wear my new rain suit but it may be a little chilly for it at 630am. Guess I’ll decide when I get up. Heck I haven’t even washed it yet and it’s still in the box it came in though I did try it on. On a side note I ordered a dozen of those arrows that Exodus is making and tonight was the first night I shot them besides looking great which I know dosent count for anything they flew great and were super quiet. If anyone has a need for arrows I would highly recommend them. They are a little pricey but I like to support the hunting community. Chad from Exodus was great to work with and answered emails promptly. Will see what tomorrow brings. Going to bed early tonight so I have no excuse tomorrow. Just have to make through the next 7 working days then my 2 weeks of vacation starts.

    Good luck tomorrow Ash.

I'm trying to decide whether to hunt in the morning or sleep in. I'm kind of tired. That's because last night the lying Weather Channel said it was going to rain all morning this morning. I stayed up until midnight. I didn't even set an alarm. I still woke up at 5:00 so I checked the weather and the rain chance was gone. I got dressed and headed out.

Now I'm just beat and I'm so tempted to just try to sleep in and take one sit off. Problem is taking a sit off just isn't in my nature. I'm on a hunting trip and I wanna hunt and kill deer.

Yeah, I've decided that I'm not going to set an alarm for tomorrow morning. If I wake up at or before 7:00 am then I may just get dressed, fly over to the T woods and get set up. I've yet to see a deer move there in the morning before 9:00 am. Maybe I can sleep in and still kill one.

The wind will be totally in my favor for an entry that doesn't disturb the deer.

    We'll see what happens.
