Yeah the progression of these issues have been in part of us never wanting to cause problems for our friend (owner) and his own grandson…in doing so we’ve slowly been walked on now more and more for years.
I’ll still never ask him to choose us over him, but we do at minimum need a set plan with all present and move forward next year…or I will bow out and have lose the final non owned piece to hunt of mine nearly. Three seasons ago I had 8 permission places I’d had for ten or more years….now only two of those exist and this would bring that to one if gone.

Here are a few more pictures of my buck. I am going to get it boiled out today hopefully. I am still in disbelief that this buck went underground for over two years and then just waltzed out in front of me in broad daylight. Sometimes its better to be lucky than good! We have a nice cold front hitting today and I may try to get out tomorrow or over the weekend to fill a doe tag.

That brute never gets old to look at my friend and your story is one I'll long be telling people....forever this buck will be reference as the dime buck for me. That story hits so pure and different.

My wife and I told the story to some great friends of ours over dinner last night and they both teared up. It's powerful stuff for sure.

The Dime Buck is exactly what I was thinking also my friend. I am just boiling it out so that I can haul it around to the cabin when I go out there and have a place to hang it next to Dave's buck on the wall, but I want it at home in the game room also. He will be a traveler. lol.

Was gonna leave work early today and hunt...but it would be at the farm with the issues presently and honestly I don't think tree time would be a release of stress but the opposite. So wife and I are gonna hit up a farm with a pumpkin patch, and kid areas with our three year old.

If I get the desire I'll be hitting a stand somewhere tomorrow evening for sure, just not sure where and what will be fair game (I have a few spots I won't kill a doe on till late season).

I got a good feeling about tomorrow. I haven’t hunted that spot at all this year. Only thing that makes me wonder if the deer have changed their pattern is that the railroad is doing some major work about 400 yds from my stand and that’s where I felt like the deer were coming from. Weather has been as predicted today rain and wind gust that are supposed to carry into the night hopefully that will keep the deer hunkered down most of the day and night until it lets up.

Ty it’s a situation that definitely sucks but unfortunately one that cannot be changed unless you guys talk to the property owner.

As you already know there’s so many things that are out of your control on hunting property, especially ones that you don’t own. The one thing that you are in control of is your mind, so take a breath and reflect on why you love to hunt, all of the thrills and joys that hunting has brought you.

Gotta take the good with the bad man. Now get out there and make a new memory that will stick with you for a life time.

    Some points wouldn’t hurt either!

100% I get it and my mind knows it, time bring perspective for sure. However, it’s been eight straight seasons with either trespassing, theft, property losses right before or in season or more changes on promised permissions at this place.

Just wears on one is all….and the small crowd of even hunters that realize the frustration level and can relate are few which includes you guys so you got the vent session lol.

Time will tell how this season plays out and if the future includes that piece at all. Again time will bring perspective and in the end hunting doesn’t even matter truly - as hard as that is for us to accept lol

Finishing coffee and heading out, it’s super foggy. I don’t like that and no wind

We have been in a high wind advisory the past few day with gusts exceeding 40…ugly!
I’m going Monday & Tuesday as the wind goes away & temps are low 60s

After some reflection on my hunt this morning I think I know what went wrong. 1st I got in real quiet, 2nd the wind was going in the direction I needed it to and 3rd the construction on the railroad tracks is to close to where my stand is. I should babe brought a camera with me to leave in there to see if the deer are moving. I’ll get back over there sometime and poke around. Only thing I saw were a couple red squirrels and blue jays. I had high hopes for today. I’ll be back out in the am somewhere.

1st snow of the year, started when I headed out to hunt. Wet snow for three hours I was in the stand. Got a little damp and cold. No deer seen. IMG_1827.JPG IMG_1829.JPG

Well headed out. Actually at the property with the issues. Might as well push in as we have no promised time before the grandson and his buddies are unleashed more and more. I don’t think I’d shoot a doe where I will be but gonna let hunt happen and see what happens.

    Another one down this morning.

It’s on ice and I’m back on stand. Does are safe this afternoon.

I had to move from first place after being all set up….discovered the grandson literally just put up a ground blind left of he stand behind a thick tree so didn’t see it right away. Literally sits on a path the deer are asked to walk by design and ten feet from the main path dumping into the field.

this wasn’t here when days prior to season…I bet he literally just put it there Tuesday.

I got down and moved up to a different piece of property that not many deer use and he never goes….even decent doe isn’t walking mere feet from a brand new blind.
Kid is being an ass plain and simple and owner knows it.

I’d say 90% chance I pull stands during or after this year here…

may come back tomorrow and glyphosate blast all the plots we put in here…I wont do that cuz I know it isn’t right but I want to lol

Pops I think snapped tonight finally from all this, he is friends with owner and wife for years before we even hunted here.

He knows the owner knew about the blind he had to because he drives his kubota every day back there…just another thing in season he has let his grandson (whom his wife hates) do whatever he wants with no regard or kind thought for us. Thing is stones throw from a food plot we have that dumps into the field too….

At some point all bad stops so whatever I need some time to desires and won’t be hunting tomorrow morning even though I’d plannned on it. Spend morning with family and then a buddy two hours away invited me to just come clear head and help kill a doe (he said I can kill any buck if one comes by). Gonna take him up on it for afternoon evening hunt.

sorry to be a little of a negative Nancy on the team thread just what is happening presently.

A conversation is happening and Pops is so pissed at what he thought was a friend I suspect this New Years will be time of stand removal and such.
