That is sad Fletch, but I’m glad to hear you and your family are okay.

My objective on this trip was to stock up on bass fillets and we are accomplishing that mission.

My son in law and I had a heck of a day on the lake today.

This lake used to have a 10 bass limit with a 14-18” slot. Now it has NO limit except you can only keep one bass over 18”.

We brought 45 fish home today, including a 20” bass I caught and a 15” crappie my son in law caught by accident on a Rat-L-Trap.

It took a couple hours to get them all filleted but now they’re all vacuum sealed and in the freezer.

We have one more half day tomorrow and that will be it for the trip.

The “fish brought home” count for the trip so far is 89.

LC, that is a big Crappie. That is a heck of a fishing trip. We don’t have any lakes around here with that big of limits. We do have a lot of slot limits. A good buddy of mine was in town. He loves to fish. We hit Fishlake today got our limit of four trout each today.

My son in law and I went fishing this morning for the last time this trip. We only fished until 10:00 but we still brought home another 18 bass.

That’s 107 fish we brought home, filleted and vacuum sealed over four outings.

I didn’t catch any over 18” this trip but I did catch a couple of 17 1/2” bass and quite a few in the 14-16” range.

I’ve had a blast fishing but I’m ready to head home in the morning.

Morning guys! It looks like everyone is getting spring fever just as I am. I’ve been working a lot but I have found some time to get out and do some steelhead fishing. Yesterday my dad, BIL, nephew and myself went out with a river charter and did pretty dang good.

I’ve been steelhead fishing since I was 10 and this is the first time I’ve ever been with a charter, it was different having someone tie on hooks and catering to you for 7 hours of fishing but still a blast!

The best part of the trip was my nephew and his dad both hooking and catching their first steelhead. We ended up going 8 for 18 I believe. Image1646922424.463177.jpg Image1646922433.135584.jpg Image1646922448.814146.jpg

It was a great day! They are so much fun to catch, and that’s the problem. Once you hook and land your first one you want to catch them all. Like I said I’ve never been with another charter but I’d highly recommend the one we went with, just a stand up guy. If you’d like I can get his information you!

We finally got some decent weather and the snow melted off enough to get the kids out for a hike. My oldest daughter (3) learned what a rub was today, which I was shocked when she began to point a few out to me as we hiked around. She might be hunting with me before too long.[IMG][IMG]

Well my two boys and myself and a couple of the grandkids found a couple horns today. It’s funny we don’t take it very serious it’s more just to get out and hike around but we found a few today. The grandkids love doing it. They find a few on their own but if we see a shed we sorta help them find it. It is fun to see how excited they get when they find a shed.

Great pictures Oldcarp! Would think that tall brown grass would make it tough finding sheds.

Still a foot of snow here, but warm week ahead so hopefully most will melt. Turkeys are getting hungry, flock of them visit the wife's bird feeders most days. IMG_1738.JPG

It was a good day to get out. So I decided to go try and see if I could find any sheds. I didn’t find any sheds but I did find a little herd of elk. This is as close as I could get to them with out pushing them. Hopefully you can see them in the picture

What has everyone been up to this past week? I’ve been staying home while my wife finished hiking the Ozark Trail.

Yesterday she hiked the last 8 mile section and completed the entire trail. She went with five of her friends. The starting point was on a really rough 10 mile forest road so I volunteered to shuttle them all from the end point to the trailhead.

I had my wife and two ladies in the cab and three of the girls rode in the bed of my truck. We met two trucks on that narrow road. At first I didn’t think anything about the odd looks they gave me as we maneuvered around them but as we got close to the trailhead I couldn’t help wondering what those guys were thinking about me driving with a literal truck load of women.

I took a pic for them just before they started. My wife is in the middle with her Australian Shepherd, Kaya.
