You would think with all those marketing skills over at the headquarters they could put something special together for you all. Not sure why they haven't ever done a BHOD Deer contest season t-shirt. I am sure they would sale out fast!

Ok start to the year, but many steps and miles to put on. Usually end the year around 20 + sheds but we shall see!

Would love to have a dog for the sheds that elude me every year haha, but usually it is just me, myself, and I finding antlers.

Best me and a group did down in Iowa was 41 sheds in two days. Now that was a blast! Miss those days, and every year my buddy in Montana rubs in his 70+ antlers he usually picks up. Shed hunting is a close second to deer hunting for me.

This was Day 1 of the trip when we found the 41 total sheds.

We used to be able to wait until March and then go pick up sheds off all of our private lands and have a fantastic time. We would spend a couple of weekends with about a 10 guys and pick up as many as 50 or 60 a day. Now, I seldom even go because all I ever find are boot tracks on our private properties. Please don't take this wrong, but the biggest problems we have had locally with shed poaching has been pickups full of guys from Wisconsin. One group that got caught said they have been coming down here for years and that was the first time anyone actually pressed charges so they thought is was worth it. Makes me a little crazy. More recently, our Amish population figured out that fresh sheds are bringing about $10 per pound and they are scouring the brush like rats. They have zero concerns about who owns the property. I am starting to like fishing more and more.;)

I've heard from numerous Iowa contacts that shed season is TERRIBLE...a lot of what they say makes me think of morel mushroom season here and how bad it gets with trespassing.

Near the end of our trips on the property where we used to find the crazy amounts we started finding a lot of fresh bootprints, trash, and sign everywhere that things were picked through. We went from averaging around 30 a weekend to about 5. Shed poaching is definitely a thing in Iowa especially once locals find out you are from out of state.

Most of our shed hunting in the west is on public ground. It gets picked through pretty good.
