The truck is loaded with all of my gear and I’ll be heading out for Arkansas at about 8:00 am tomorrow.

I’m planning on three or four days but I can extend that of things are looking good or I can shorten it if I kill one right off the bat.

I’m pretty excited to get back in there.

I’ve been trying to stay busy keeping the starlings in check. I think I’m up to 11 this year. My best imitation of Littlechief but with pest birds instead of deer. With the pellet rifle at 25yds from the sunporch window. E9928F96-56A2-49A6-AD13-D7248C251A7E.jpeg DBBCE5BE-25AD-4C2E-82A1-DDD6903B58D8.jpeg

Great pictures Oldcarp, Hope to do some fishing when my grandkids get done with their weekend bb tournaments.

Ash your doing good, starlings are some smart birds.

Never ending battle with pests on the farm. Barn pigeons, starlings. skunks, raccoons, red squirrels, coyotes and bears.
Skunks are one animal you have to really think before you kill one. Check the wind, make sure it's blowing away from you and the buildings. Best if you can chase them like 100 yards or more from the house. Don't go near it after you kill it, for like a couple weeks.
I've messed up a couple times, really ticked the wife off. One funny thing about skunks, they get along with cats. Few times I've fed our outside barn cats and looked out later and a skunk was eating with them.

Hope you guys have better weather than here. Mostly frigid or snow and windy. very few nice days.

I’d like to have access to a farm to take on all those critters.

I’m here at Wattensaw. I got the camper up and running as well as the cabin.

I pulled a muscle in my back picking up kindling that I split to get the fire going in the cabin. It’s amazing how badly it hurts. I’ve pulled a few muscles before but this is nuts.

I can draw my bow but it hurts like hell to do it. Also, it still remains to be seen if I can climb a tree or not but I’m Going to Motrin up and try this afternoon.

    LC, I thought I had bad luck:biggrin:

Farmer Rick, aren’t grandkids the best. I didn’t do a ton of fishing. I was mostly rigging up polls baiting jigs. We caught over 50 fish. Between baiting jigs and taking fish off the hooks l was on the busy side. I love every minute of it.

I’m set up now. A south wind is bad for both spots I was hunting so I moved to a new spot.

I’m set up in their dining room.

I took this pic from my tree. I’m 20 yards downwind of the trail but they’ve been everywhere in here.

That’s about it for the day.

Something tells me I have a better than average chance of going home with a cooler full of venison this trip.

    If I don’t it won’t matter. It’s been a great season.

Oldcarp That had to be a great time for the kids, catching that many fish. You and the kids will remember that trip forever.
Great job on your part for giving them a great day.

It felt pretty good this morning until I tried to put wood in the stove in the cabin. Something about that put me right back to square one and the morning sit was uncomfortable.

It’s still feel it now but it’s a little better. To quote Patrick Swayze, “Pain don’t hurt”.
