Just wow! I’ve been trying to check in every couple days bc I knew we still had some guys hunting but I haven’t looked since Thursday or Friday and Chief came in clutch at the end!

That is a hell of a way to end the year, I hope you indulged in the beverages after that recovery!

I know it’s been a long year for you but what a way to end on a high note man, it’s always nice when they arrow hits right where you anticipate it to hit.

I was so pumped when he was taking those pics. I couldn't even explain to them what this small buck meant to me. I think they knew part of it, but not the whole story.

Also, there is a little more to the recovery story that I left out of the LFTS thread. Bubba is a great blood trailer, but he's not the one who found the buck.

So, Bubba and I went in the same way I'd been going in. His dad Glenn and another good friend Gary drove out to Hwy 11 and drove about 8 miles south, turned left on Hwy 70 and turned on a road that goes back in there. They came in from the south.

I had texted Gary that we had a blood trail and he asked where. I said SE from where I'd shot the buck. A few minutes later Glenn and Gary joined us. Both of them knew that old road that ran along the "minnow ponds" was to the south of us but Bubba and I had no idea it was there.

Glenn stayed with us and Gary did a wide circle so as not to disturb the track and headed south. I didn't know it at the time, but Gary knew that area well and had a good idea as to where the buck was headed.

About 20 minutes later I got a text from Gary saying to have Glenn call him. Glenn couldn't get a signal and I texted Gary and let him know. He texted back "Have Glenn bring you over here. I'm on good blood." Actually, the text read "Have him to bring you to road we were on got hood" but I am fluent in Arkansan so I understood what he meant.

Just in case, I marked last blood on OnX and we headed over there. We got to the road and Gary pointed to a good blood trail going up the levee so we started up. I was the last one up since I'm colorblind. I was still going up when I heard Glenn say "Why hell, there he is right there!"

I sprinted the last few feet and saw him lying about 80 yards away out in the open in the old dried up pond. I actually dropped to my knees, hung my head and said a quick "Thank you!". I had been so worried all night that I'd lost another buck that when I saw him I just about came unglued.

I got up, jumped up and down a couple of times, took my ball cap off and slammed it on the ground and started doing a little dance. The guys got a big kick out of me being so excited. There was a lot of hand shaking, back slapping and even a hug or two in there. Heck, I'm glad I didn't tear up or even start crying.

I know good and well that Gary walked up the levee, saw the deer, walked back down and sent the texts. He wouldn't admit it because he wanted us to be the ones to actually "find" it. I asked him twice and he just smiled and shook his head no. I have no doubt that Bubba would have eventually found the buck, but it was nice to have someone make it a shorter job.

Those are some really good guys over there.

I said in the LFTS thread it would have been nice to know that all that time I could have ridden my bike to within 300 yards of my stand. When I think about it though, the way I was going in was so much more work but it didn't impact the buck's travel path. Going in on the road and walking north would have had me walking the potential path of the bucks I was after and I know I would have bumped does.

Oh yeah, we celebrated. The party started as soon as we got the truck backed up to the "meat pole". :tu:

My year isn't finished though. I'm going back to Arkansas one more time to try for the big buck I saw a little bit before I shot this one. Or a doe. Doesn't matter much now, but that big buck would just be icing on the cake.

Great pictures and great story LC!! Love it, love it, love it. You had a rollercoaster year that ended perfectly.

Ty, I am good with whatever you come up with. Basically, whatever you want to lose. :whip:
I'm putting up at least 200 total next year. (Might as well keep up with the bs promises)

    What a great story !!!!
I read it while in court this afternoon
Bastard waived the preliminary hearing & I
Could have saved myself a 40 minute drive but I’m driving home from court so it’s a win win I guess
Does the contest stop at sundown today or at midnight? Sundown in LC time zone would be perfect in my opinion

Technically if someone kills one they have until midnight to enter it on the scorecard, but if we haven't heard something big from team 4 or team 15 by the time it's dark in Wisconsin it will pretty much be a done deal.

Hahaha I deserve it! Couldn’t get a dang doe with the bow and went the easy route and shot 3 with the rifle. Next year mark my words a doe will fall to the bow

So can we change our title to 2021 Champs yet….?

Yet again it was another great run and very fun season tagging along on all of your hunts! I can’t wait to do it again.

I was going to head out this weekend to do some shed hunting on a couple of my bigger properties but we are supposed to get dumped on with between 9-14” of snow between Wednesday and Thursday so I’m might not even try.

Congrats on a very deserving win guys. The least you all could do is act like a bunch of classless, slob, a-holes so we could hate you. But nooooo, you guys have to be a great group of guys. Thats ok. We will still be arrowing for you next season!
