Steve the fawns will be fine. 1/4 away shots are deadly, only broadside or 1/4 away for me.
Sounds like a good time with Chief. The rest of us need to hunt with Chief to learn new tricks on butchering while drinking beer.

Good luck hunting fletch and to the rest of the team still hunting. Good to know we still have great hunters hunting in great places.

This Friday my late season cow elk tag opens. Of course I always have my ducks.

Gun opener for us in Wisconsin this weekend.... never really look forward to this weekend as far as up and comers goes, but I do tend to usually have a horseshoe from time to time to knock down a good one so I guess I'm torn between liking it and hating it haha. Need to knock down some does so hoping to get some with the gun/muzzleloader and then follow up with a bow doe. Need that additional 50 points! :)

I probably won’t get out until late Friday morning but I plan on making a day of it. Our gun opener starts Saturday so I’ll be switching over. It’s been a tough season for me hunting wise mostly self induced. Glad the team has had some success so far. I think I will go back where I had that encounter with the nice 10 early season.

Fletch you just embrace the year and the hunt man. If a buck walks in and he trips your trigger go with it without hesitation - even one of those junk mature eights LOL

    Enjoy man!

Tomorrow morning is supposed to be great after the front pushes through tonight.

I was planning to hunt but I’m just not ready physically. I’m still coughing stuff out of my lungs and the cough isn’t as productive as it should be.

I had a busy day today. I had to go back to the forest and tow my travel trailer home and get it situated. Then the wife and I loaded three rank of firewood on our trailer and covered it up with a tarp. Then we carried some old firewood to the house AND THEN we processed the last deer I killed. After all of that was about to cough up internal organs.

As much as I hate taking the stuff I started taking Mucinex DM again just now. It works great but the “medicine head” really sucks.

I’ll try to get out tomorrow afternoon.

LC, I suffer a lot with that sinus and drainage crap that causes cough and have found pseudoephedrine to be the best thing ever. Thanks to the meth heads you now have to sign for it at the pharmacy, but it really dries me up and does not give me the hazy feeling that the Mucinex does. Take it with a little bourbon and all better!

Actually, Robitussin DM works much better for me but we can’t find it anywhere.

Here’s a little update from the last week and a half or so.

I’ve been hunting hard since the end of October with some decent encounters and a few doe tags punched. I’ve been absolutely getting my ass kicked as far as bucks.

The three bucks that I wanted to shoot on my main farm all have their right sides completely broke off beside their brows. The one buck in particular is a gorgeous 8 that would have been right around 140”, he’s tortured me mentally with 3 encounters in 3 different sits all within 20 yards. But I’ve stuck to my guns and kept the bow on the hook.

Monday morning was the opening day of Michigan’s gun season and I had one heck of a sit seeing 10-12 does and 6 different bucks, one buck was a new shooter I’ve never seen before on a hot doe but she did not cooperate at all taking him past me at 60 yards.

It has been a great season so far but I just can’t quite find the last piece of the puzzle.

The pictures are my number broke #2 shooter, the new shooter that showed up, and an absolute tank of an 8 that was my #1 shooter that was killed Monday morning 1/2 mile away I thought he was already killed since he disappeared the middle of October. He ended up having 42” of mass measurements and went just a hair over 162”

I haven’t threw in the towel yet and plan on hunting as hard and as smart as possible the next month and a half.

Good to know! I get sinus infections regularly this time of year and usually knock me out.

    Sorry, just saw this.

I believe Sudafed was a big name for it. But honestly, I just buy the generic. 30 mg hcl.

    Good luck!
