I'm sure we have all been there. That buck that keeps you from sleeping at night. The monster that you have on your trail camera. Trying to put together a solid game plan to hunt him but in the end, it just never panned out. For some of us (here's looking at me) this happens on a yearly basis! Sometimes a new buck shows up and the process starts all over again and other times it is the same buck that keeps eluding you. A buck that I have been hunting for a couple years, at least to my knowledge, is still alive. However, the landowner is in the process of selling his property so I will most likely not be able to continue my quest for Goliath. Here he is in all of his glory in the two years that I hunted him. I had one encounter with him the first year but he winded me at 33 yards. Never saw him from the stand year two. Maybe things will work out and I will get another crack at him this year but if not, he's too awesome not to share with you guys. year 1 year 2 https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=1853433841647723
I think it's definitely something you learn to get over, with moving on to the next year. The last two years I hunted this 10 point that wasn't a giant but definitely a shooter in my eyes. The first year I hunted him and passed on a bad shot, then he picked me off. The next year I had some nice early season pics of him, and he disappeared. This year I will not be hunting that spot so I have to move on. Having history of him makes it pretty hard to move on but I will get over it with the next big buck that shows up on camera.
I remember you posting pics of him last year before the season. I think you got the forum curse by doing that! Haha. He is a awesome buck!
That would keep me awake at night as well. Maybe things will work out where you can keep hunting him. Good luck! Blessings..........Pastorjim Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
I was wondering about this deer thru the last season. Hope u can get a shot at him a true giant! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
If the landowner still has the property come late August I'll throw some corn and a camera out. But there's no point in planting a food plot and doing all that work when its all up in the air. Never know, If he still owns it come hunting season, might be better that I stayed out of there all summer.
I remember him from last season as well! We were on the same team for the deer contest and was really hoping you got a crack at him! He's certainly a stud! Hope somehow it works out and you get to catch up with him this year, but if not eventually one will fill the void! Good luck bud!
That sounds pretty awesome man, nice score! I'm sure some of those smaller wooded pockets are holding some good deer and I also would bet that there are some also bedding in that tall CRP! Good luck with the new property, hope it all works out!
