Thanks buddy. Hope it comes together this season on a 3 year old or older buck. I keep passing two year old bucks...as hard is that is for me! lol
The ONLY time I'll leave my LW in the woods is if I KNOW I'll be back in there before first light the following morning.
Sabine national forest. I have tried the Davy and don't like it as much. I would suggest somewhere between Joaquin and patroon Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
This big old 5 pointer is at the top of my hitlist for PA public land. Then again my hit list is pretty much any legal buck! But I think he's a neat looking buck to be that big and only a 5 point, he is barely legal in PA Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Why thats practically a booner PA public buck! I get super excited whenever I get a pic of this guy! But seriously, what ever happened to that buck you had pics of about 2-3 years ago? He was a real dandy!
So today I kayaked in to one of my spots. I have to cross part of the lake to get back to where the creek enters the lake. Then I had to wind through the creek back to my spot. I was packing in a stand, camera and corn. (Yes, it is legal to bait on the public land I am hunting. It isn't very effective early season but does help in the late. ) It was definitely a long trek in. It took me an hour to get to my spot. The kayak did take a long time to get on there. I wish I had s flat bottom boat. I could have zipped in there in 20 minutes. Accessing it by the water is the perfect set up. It makes me completely undetectable with a south wind. I can get in and out without any deer smelling me. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
That was probably one of the ones I was hunting in college in NC I had quiet a few nice ones on there Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Virtually 0 white oaks dropping this year. Have to find a food source next week. Gonna do some quick scouting well away from my rut spots. Hopefully find some acorns from something close to bedding. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
Went out this morning for a few hours. Tucked into a mountain laurel patch. Didn't see anything. Great morning though! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I wish I'd have seen this post before I started a new one... Here's the results from my public land hunt from just a few days ago.
Virginia, it's ironic that your white oaks aren't dropping, because the white oaks in my area were raining down acorns, literally. I waited for thee years for two huge whites to drop. I've never seen a white oak drop two years in a row. As soon as I saw the acorns/droppings though, I knew I was going to kill a deer there. My first hour and a half of hunting for this season, and watching 7 deer feast was all it took to fill the freezer. Bring on the rut!!!
Here's a photo of the guy I'm after this year on public land , Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums

Just hunted 2 rainy days for the opener, not much deer movement. I did get a new shooter buck on a trailcam. Left my camper in the woods for next weekend!
