    Guys:

I apologize for the inconvenience of having our team thread deleted. It was a product of the thread being started by me. Simple coincidence. Nothing to do with Team 10.

I had a recent situation where someone from this site provided information to persons around me that resulted in me being approached/threatened. I took the threat, seriously.

As a precaution, I approached the Admins and asked them to delete ALL threads started by me.....and also to remove all of my posts (those that could be removed, without too much work). I appreciate their concern and applaud their diligence.

I will continue to bowhunt until our closer....and I will certainly report in if I am lucky enough to score additional points for our team.

My days of sharing personal information on this or any other internet site are over, though.

I/WE (my family) are fine...and we will be. Again, my apologies for this inconvenience. I hate this happened.

    Sincerely,

    Jeff

Jeff, I sincerely hope everything is working out, for you.

Ya'll know Jeff and I have had some differences in opinion over the years. He was in contact with me when this began and I know of the situation he is currently enduring. It's a sad state of affairs.

This is the internet fellas..You can love or hate the poster or participant in a thread or on the boards. But in reality, face to face, we are all enough alike that we'd probably become fast friends.

If you find yourself to the point of frustration that you need to jeopardize a mans health and the security of his family...then you need a loooong break and perhaps some "help".

When every post has to be guarded to be careful what information you provide, the "community" is gone and the board becomes a shell of itself and the information is no more useful than your monthly Outdoor Life. We need to be self policing and weed out those who cannot play along.

I agree Germ. Can't believe anyone would stoop to something like this. Threats over hunting is beyond insane, I'm dumbfounded that something like this happened.

Thanks for all of your collective concerns. We will be FINE!:)

On a brighter note.....I arrowed a nice little 7 pointer at 7:40AM this morning. My friend Page came over to go on the recovery with me....and we have him back at the house, now. I'll get him measured and post some photos ASAP.....but my guess is he's in the 85" range as a 2.5yr old.

I'm tickled to death with my 1st traditional buck, and even more tickled with the shot and how things went down. I couldn't be happier. I'll post a mini-story to accompany the photos.

    Sincerely,

    J

    Well, here he is, guys.

Story goes like this..... I got up this AM and told my wife I had decided not to go out (hunting). The forecast for today called for strong winds, and I just didn't have it in me to sit through them. It's been a long season, and I just don't like how alert I have to be when I can't hear deer in the woods. Call me a wuss!

About 20min. before 1st light, I walked out side and saw that the forecast was gonna be a little "off". It wasn't windy at all. I had already showered, so I grabbed my gear and headed out. I got in pretty quietly, and got settled in. About 7:38 or so I see one of the deer you guys who know me have heard me talking about. She was alone......or so I thought (she wasn't traveling with her usual companion). Behind her, I noticed a buck. I didn't have time, I thought, to glass him, for fear of spooking the doe. She was already about 40yds out, and she remained on a straight line.....which would not be offering me a shot on her or the buck. Too far with my tackle. WAY too far.

She stayed on her path and the buck stopped behind her. I now focused my attention on him, and he looked better than I initially had thought. I was able to glass him and noted him as a 7-pointer....and one I'd be tickled to take as my first trad. buck.

The doe had gotten out ahead of the buck, now....and if he was gonna cut the distance between them, he "might" just come within range. I agonized whether to attempt to turn far enough to my right, but that didn't give me too good of a shot. If he came that way, he be RIGHT behind my tree. So, I slowly turned to my left and got set. If he offered...it would have to be where I could set up to shoot him. I couldn't see him (blocked by the tree), but I heard him trotting. Sure enough, he trotted into view and I quickly stopped him with a "mahh". I got full extension; picked a spot....and the arrow released.

First thing I see is the hole open up and then his off-side spit my arrow out. It was covered in bright red blood from tip to nock. I watched him bound away and immediately threw my field glasses up to follow him. I could see the blood pumping out of him as he raced away, out of sight. He'd traveled, at this point, some 100yds.

I took off my cap, hung my bow, and started the task of getting my gear together. I knew he was not coming back into view. And, I knew he was smoked. I gathered my things and started towards the house. About 1/2 way there the adrenaline rush hit me. Wow. Most intense, ever.

I called Brknarrow (Frank) to see if he wanted to come get on the trail with me, but I couldn't raise him. I really just wanted to have a reason to slow me down from getting on the trail too quickly (even though I had NO doubts this buck was a "goner". I called my friend Page, and he said he'd be right here (great friend!). When he arrived, we went to the POI and the blood trail was easily follwed by hardly breaking stride. If not for the buck going through a grassy area, we'd have never had to stop.

When the buck made it back to the woods, the trail was easily followed......and I looked up and saw him within seconds.

I've hunted my ass off this year.....and this buck is my 1st buck taken with my new recurve (and traditional gear, period). I could NOT be happier with how my season has unfolded. 3 does down and now a buck.

I won a free shoulder mount at a local traditional 3D tournament, back in the summer. As soon as I can get ahold of the taxi., I'll get tthis guy to him. I'll make a spot in the cave for him, and I'm as proud of this buck as any other I've taken.

As I'm typing, Frank calls and says he's headed up to help out and to hunt the PM with me. More good news......and a great friend. He also reminded me that this is the exact day he and I both shot our 2008 bucks. Pretty cool.

Good luck to all of you guys still hunting. Your season can turn in 1 minute. Although my 1st all trad season has been exciting, this morning's hunt was simply icing on the cake. I'm set to host MKK int he AM....and Frank will probably hunt here with us. Looking forward to that, also.

I put a tape on him. I guessed him around 85"....and I got 91-3/8" when it was all said and done. Not a monster, by anyone's stds. But, again....I'm tickled to death with him as my 1st trad. buck.

I'll get the string and photos posted in the scorecard, soon. Gotta go cape him, for now.

    J
