You know players get paid handsomely and slaves didn't right? It's literally the exact opposite of slavery.
It is one thing to be ignorant about NASCAR but to prove it in public ? ? You must be one of those that drive for a mile on a flat tire before you realize it is flat. If all it takes is turning left, why aren't you one of the 42 driver in the world driving in a cup race and collecting several thousand dollars ? ? Because it is way over your head, don't know caster from camber, wedge from the track bar. Nothing wrong with not knowing the finer things about NASCAR but don't run it down just because you don't know. NASCAR viewing is up in the last 3 weeks. Part because of the chase but mostly because of the NFL.
technically yes; but in reality not. Per NFL rules they must be on the field and standing before the anthem starts*. Second, they are under contract and any conduct deemed detrimental to the team (can be very loosely interpreted) is subject to fines, suspensions, and/or other disciplinary action. So yes, they can disrespect the flag- but if the league and teams have any cojones they can and will punish them for doing so...as the great <ahem> American poet Trace Atkins once said- "Excuse me - First amendment? Son, the first amendment protects you from the government; not from me. You can say whatever you want to out there...You come within reach of me, I'll exercise my right to give you a good ol' country azz whoopin' is what I'll do for you...By God." There is no inherent First Amendment right for private citizens while engaged in a private employment capacity. Period. End of story. * From the NFL Game Operations Manual (from Snopes) : During the National Anthem, players on the field and bench area should stand at attention, face the flag, hold helmets in their left hand, and refrain from talking. The home team should ensure that the American flag is in good condition. It should be pointed out to players and coaches that we continue to be judged by the public in this area of respect for the flag and our country. Failure to be on the field by the start of the National Anthem may result in discipline, such as fines, suspensions, and/or the forfeiture of draft choice(s) for violations of the above, including first offenses.’
The NFL will always be relevant for one reason.....gambling. Anyhow when the anthem is played you stand, my 2 cents Sent from my iPad using Bowhunting.com Forums
Evidently you do not recall the protests about the fantasy football draft show on ESPN that was compared to a slave auction.
If you are not standing at attention in your living room every time that anthem plays then you have no place to talk... Sent from my XT1575 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
"According to your logic I should be wearing a condom if I am watching a porno, or wearing a 4 point harness and a helmet if I am watching a car race." This is the best comment of the thread!
As I said, they are free to disrespect the anthem and kneel or whatever they want but their actions have repercussions for their actions. Reality has nothing to do with it if the NFL ignores the issue and goes against their operations manual. I agree, the NFL is ignoring it but they are also paying for it too. People at my work have committed a fireable offense yet they weren't fired. Same thing. I don't agree with the NFL or the players who are kneeling, but surely they have the freedom to do whatever they want, regardless if they should/will be punished or not - or how much of an idiot they are.
Good when you're in town next I'll pencil you with our scout troop, I am activities director for our troop. We also have a game day, where the scouts go and sit and play board games at the VFW, wanna do that also?
