$85 for 3 heads is a lot of dough my friends. Mathematics tells me thats $28.333333333333333333333333333333333 a head! I like the looks of the new Thunderhead Edge as posted in the blog, though. Anyone have any prices on those puppies? I'd look myself but I am too lame and I have dial up and it would take me approx. 31 minutes to find the prices and get back to this site.
The ferrule was the problem for me. I didn't mind replacing blades. If they can get the price down, I'd consider it.
I won't buy them until they come out with a Platinum version with a diamond tip. They will sell for $2850 for a 3 pack. Thats just how I roll.
So lets see they should last forever Right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! for that price and the titanium you wouldn't have to replace the broadhead maybe the blades? Right??? $85 dollars now nothing later , but maybe a blade or two huh??????????????? the year before i bought a 3 pack of BH cost me $30.00 this year i probabley will buy a 3 pack of BH $30.00 so i will be at $60.00 into this year and $90.00 in a couple of years??????? This makes you think thou. Too much out of pocket at once!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Actually a great business plan...they have already done the brainwashing...now it's time to make some serious profit margin. ...They will sell... ...as I continue to resharpen my replacable blades on my six pack of Muzzy's I paid $25 for years ago
I'm with Trevor, the 125 gr. will be nice, and there is no way I'll spend $85 on 3 heads, that is crazy. I do like the sleeker design, but having Ti. isn't going to mean squat.
The same archers that are rushing out to spend $850 on a new bow (a new one every year, mind you) are surprised that accessory prices are going up? I see people jumping to buy the octane quiver and that sells for, what $100+ ? Just to hold arrows? If I am going to spend extra dollars on something it likely will be the equipment that actually does the killing. I can launch an arrow with any decent, low cost bow but the arrow itself I will spend extra dollars on. A high quality shaft and components are worth the $ to me. I understand not everyone agrees and that's cool. I am not trying to convince anyone of anything and I likely wouldn't spend any money on a rage BH but, there are BH's I will spend the $ on, same with shafts.
I don't care who you are that is funny. Have there been notable failures with the aluminum ferrules to justify a titanium one? If not, what is the real advantage? You still have to replace the blades on both.
yeh I never really had an issue with the body, just usually have to replace blades like many of the Muzzy's and Slick Tricks that I have used...although this year the Rage replacement blades were a pain in the rump...I eneded up having to buy 2 additional packs of Rages b/c I couldn't get the blades in...but I was also trying to do it in a hotel room with very little tools...
That's a great post, Bruce. I posted the photos of the silver flames, for cost reference. But, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't seriously considering getting a pack and tuning them for my elk hunt. 52#'s isn't a lot of draw weight.....and the 1 less blade is something I'm interested in (for THAT hunt....and probably for a future hog hunt). I'm not going to let +/- $60 get in between me and 100% confidence. And, I've already spent the last dollars I'll ever spend on bows. I can "splurge". Again.....great post.
I loved the rage when i shot Compound bow , but i would not even concider paying that kinda money . I got 9 x Outback supremes for that and postage was included from Australia too .
Smart thinking Jeff! I too would love to give the Silver Flames a try, probably go for it this up coming season! They are definitely not a one or two and done head, they last ya a very long time! I've got no problem with spending the extra cash, heck, a lot of guys spend way more on gimmicks !!!!
When you give the bows to the grandkids you can give them the Silver Flames too . If you look on AT classifieds there are sometimes some SF's there for sale. That's where I got mine (210 grains). I would also suggest you look at the single bevel Samurai's at Alaska Bowhunting, freaky sharp and hold an edge great.
Thanks, Bruce. I'll look 'em up. Might try both. I can say one thing, though. I might wanna have a metal detector at my disposal when I tune 'em!
