So for those who do not know yet, Facebook is about to change yet again, and with this new update, it makes it much easier for you to search your past posts. Like too easy. Like easy enough for my aunt to figure it out. Since I'm awesome, I already have the new Facebook, and while I find it quite amusing to see what I was posting back in 2004, my Mom and my other old family members might not find some of my posts so hilarious. Like this awesome post by a college friend circa November 2004 "dude, is your **** ok after last night? please tell me you did not **** that thing? how drunk were you?" Ah the good old days back when you had to have a college e-mail account to get on Facebook and no fear of these idiotic posts/pictures coming back to haunt you. Oh how naive. *off to delete my past
What's a facebook? Seriously though, I hate that site, as it has a tendency to suck my gf in. I'm fortunate enough to check it once a month.
Eh, it has it's purpose. I have friends all over the country/world and Facebook allows us to all keep in touch quite easily. I like being able to see their pictures, see what they are up to, etc. I like that it is what you make of it. I only have like 100 friends (I'm such a loser) because if someone post something that I find annoying, I immediately delete them or at least hide them. You can delete/hide all the stuff from your past, but you are not going to be able to disable this new "Timeline" feature. That kinda sucks.
I would guess 75% of the people on my "friends" list are blocked. I find people say incredibly stupid things on facebook. Things they wouldn't say in public or in person. Plus, I always felt it was rude if I didn't accept a request. I don't do it anymore, but I just block the old ones. You meet someone a couple times, or they are a friend of friend, and next thing you know you are facebook "friends". Only now, you have to hear every incredibly dumb thing that comes to their mind. Think about every person you've met in your life. People that you thought were alright, and they weren't so you don't hang out anymore. Now imagine you have to hear all their random thoughts. That can be facebook. I use it to keep in touch with family and friends that don't live close. Thats about it. How could someone hate a website? If you don't like it, don't go to it. Its like people that complain about hunting shows, but they always watch them and get mad. Its like they have no control over what they do.
2 things: What the hell is on my chin? And WTF was my little Jewish friend showing me? I...I..can't explain this picture.
Check out google+ in a way like facebook. You can group your friends fam an so on all into their own categories, this way friends see what u want them too aside from your other circles. I also hate facebook but love the ease of staying connected with distant friends and family.
I didn't say I hated the site, in and of itself. I said I hated it because it sucks my gf in. I also mentioned that I barely visit the site, and consider myself fortunate for that fact. So, it's nothing like the analogy you presented. And hooker that picture really makes me wonder about you....
Yeah I got a bit chunky in college. The only exercise I got was lifting chicks for keg stands and walking across the street to Taco Bell for a midnight snack.
Good lord, this is so cool... Just found a picture of not 1, not 2, but 3 ex girlfriends in the same photo. Man im gonna get in trouble.
I defacebooked myself for the exact reason Vito said, I got tired of reading the everyday activities of people I really did not give a crap about.
I know I'm on it WAY less than I used to it. It's a little boring and redundant seeing the same old crap people post (what they did today on their day off, what political movement they're joining today, how much they love their significant other, etc). Now, I just hunting related posts.
Don't forget all the ones that CONSTANTLY have some sort of drama in their life. Or the ones that take pictures of themselves constantly. I went through my facebook a few months back and did some "friend pruning."
Like I said, you can hide or de-friend anybody that is annoying, so I don't get why people always use these types of complaints about Facebook. If you have friends all over the country/world, Facebook is a great tool.
Right...no one is arguing that. It's the behavior that social networking has developed in many people that bothers me. I will get on occasionally to check in on a few people I don't see often, but for the most part I don't need to be on it to to know most of whats going on with people I actually care about. I used to (as in just this summer) be on a lot more...then I realized there's no need to be on that often for my intended purposes.
