You can call them anything you want. Don't they have a regular season and a tournament champion? (I'm asking) Collegiate post-season football is a joke. I see where you're headed, hook. If there was a playoff system, it wouldn't matter. As it is (BCS), it does. Like I said.....a joke.
Personally I love the fact that the Big 10 split into divisions. I think every conference should be set up that way. As for Ohioh St/Mich being split up, I think too big of a deal is being made of it. UT/Bama are in separate divisions in the SEC and that works just fine.
Playing devils advocate, I suppose the argument would be that there was home field advantage involved. Whereas the championship is on a neutral field so therefore it was more fair. But I get your point and agree with it. That is why I would hate for them to play the last week of the season for nothing. They should have them in the same division and let them fight it out in there. Does this ever occur in the SEC?
Phillip, the differnence is OSU and UM are going to play every year on the last game of the season. Does UT and Bama do that?
Because the FBS post season is whack. Couldn't this same situation play out in the SEC? I think Alabama and Florida play in early October. Say Bama wins, and both teams win the rest of their games, but Florida wins the SEC championship game. Same scenerio? And BTW, GMMAT is a homosexual, small buck hunting, hillbilly from the south. Had to get this up to par with the recent sports related threads.
Only reason I ask....is I go to NCAA.com to see who's playing tonight.....and they're now ranked (AP) #4. Something happen?
Yes, same scenario, except it wouldn't be back to back games, which for some people, would make a difference. I would feel the same way though, that neither one could proclaim themselves as conference champion. But as you said, NCAA football is whack. But that's why I love it.
Was it possible they are ranked #3 in coaches and #4 in AP? Don't know just asking. This is usually the reason for ranking differences.
What should it matter when the game is played? UT/Bama, LSU/Fla, UGA/Auburn all could be rematches in the SEC Championship game with the teams splitting the games.
1. Alabama 2. Texas 3. Florida 4. Boise State 5. Ohio State 6. TCU 7. Iowa 8. Penn State 9. Cincinnati 10. Virginia Tech 11. Oregon 12. BYU 13. Georgia Tech 14. Nebraska 15. Pittsburgh 16. Wisconsin 17. LSU 18. Utah 19. MiamiFlorida 20. USC 21. Miss State 22. West Virginia 23. Texas Tech 24. Central Mich 25. Oklahoma State
As I said earlier in the thread. If this plays out the way the Big Ten wants it to play out. Both UM and OSU play in the conference championship. So, let's say they both have their divisions locked up for that last game. Now they play each other for nothing (other than pride) in a game that means nothing. Vito and I debated this earlier in the thread if you look back. I'm not going to re-write all my arguments for it. I'm just saying that if they play earlier in the season the results of the division will always be very much in doubt rather than at the end of the season they very well could be playing for nothing at that point. Playing back to back games with one game meaning nothing and one game meaning everything is not a good thing IMO.
http://ncaafootball.com/ The poll I posted was the USA Today. But, the AP is also listed, there. And, they too have Boise St. as No. 4 Just found it odd.
