I'd love to hear from anyone that owns one of the new '09 Center pivot Bowtechs. Are they extremely hard to tune like I've read on AT? I went and shot the Captain and Sentinel yesterday and they felt awesome. I came home to do a bit more research and discovered people are selling these bows left and right to get something else. That or they are converting them to a shoot thru system which alleviates the problem. Apparently, they won't shoot worth a darn past 30-40 yards. I won't be shooting at live game much over that distance but I do enjoy practicing at 60-70 yards.

I really had my heart set on one of these bows but now I'm second-guessing purchasing one.

I have no experience with the 09's but I cannot imagine why they would be hard to tune. I cannot imagine why ANY bow would be hard to tune unless you were using an incompatible arrow/shaft or you didn't have a good grasp on tuning to begin with. I suspect one or both of those reasons are at play here.

Or you have a bow with a cam system that causes tremendous cam lean or the limbs twist or the cabling is crap...

No doubt, there can be physical problems with a bow but I think it would be highly unusual for all of these new models to have those types of problems. If I recall correctly, that was the big slam on the Guardian, cam lean, and that turned out to be an "optical illusion". When lasers were used to check the cam alignment the cam lean "disappeared".

Recently, I was having a heckuva time getting an 08 Allegiance to tune. It would seem to be right on and then the arrows would start to wander. That went on for a bit and I found that the allen bolt holding the rest to the riser was not tight enough and the rest was creeping up, ever so slightly. I thought that fixed it but no, now the arrows would just wander horizontally. That turned out to be an allen screw on the right side of the rest. Thought that fixed it, but no  , the arrows still wandered. Tightened the allen screw on the other side of the rest and now it shoots like a dream. Part of the problem was taking the bow from my somewhat chilly basement out in the very hot humidity. Shooting while the bow was warming up likely caused things to loosen. Plus, stupid me should have been checking screws and bolts when the tuning was acting crazy.

The point of that story is that I could have blamed the bow as being hard to tune when, in reality, it was the rest acting up (and my stupidity at not checking all screws once I found just one a little loose).

You gotta understand, there seems to be quite a few people with these complaints. I forgot to mention but one theory is the riser is flexing at full draw due to the new roller cable assembly. I really don't know how but thats one theory.

You also gotta understand, AT is a "Martin" website ;) . If the world of bows was according to them all Bowtechs would have cam lean or limb problems. I guess now the riser is flexing LOL. Think about that for a minute. The riser is flexing!?!? How many of the 09 Bowtechs have sold and how many verifiable problems do you actually see?

Lol...I know it sounds extreme but that seems to be the general consensus in that thread. There were a few redesigning the roller guard and swearing it fixed the problem. Others converted to shoot thru systems. I saw many complaints that while at full draw, the arrow points toward the left across the shelf. I'll have to watch for that when I go back to shoot them again.

If I had to "redesign the roller guard" or convert to shoot through system to make a bow shoot well why on earth would I keep that piece of junk? If the bow didn't perform as advertised I am sure as hell not going to redesign it to make it work. I am going to demand my money back from the dealer or the manufacturer and buy a bow I don't have to "redesign". IMO, it sounds like so much BS. Why the heck did these guys even buy the bows to begin with. Did the bow shoot great in the pro shop and then, when they got it home, begin to shoot like ****? Think about it for a minute. If there were a problem, you would be hearing about it all over the place, not just from a few guys on AT LOL.

Yeah, you make a good point. I guess reading about these "alleged" problems made me think twice about my future purchase. I found another thread over there today all about people that have had NO problems with their bowtechs. That was reassuring.

Thanks for the encouraging words even though you still haven't shot one. :deer: :d
