Roy was awesome. If you like Roy, you'll hopefully like this guy. He'd "kinda" fast. He's the best at what he does, today. There's three guys playing in the band that are the best (at their instruments EVER). Seen 'em several times. This was filmed about 35mi. from here. Big bluegrass festival, every year. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uktl4ov-urM&feature=related
I like bluegrass and blues. We have festivals for both here in my local town every year but my son's baseball usually keeps me away. Good video.I like Roy but Chet is my all time favorite.
Another one I like of his. I have a special connection with his music. My dad passed away when I was very young(3 years old) and I would spend weekends with my grandparents.I would always watch Hee Haw with them before I would go to the Skating rink(1 block away, and where I met my wife later on)Lots of fond memories from those days. I should add,my mother told me that Roy was my dads all time favorite. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k59g3pX-C_s
Good stuff. I spent summers with my grandparents (we grew tobacco).....and we did the same (Hee Haw).
one more guy that was on he haw/smothers bros show from time to time was glenn campbell and was a very good guitar player. my fav of all time is buddy guy puts on the best show and he loves to play and ham it up.. if he comes to your town go see him you will be blown away.
This guy is not bad neither. A little different, but we went to him in concert, and he blew me away. He grew up with my wife. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XyY4LNkxOW0
Jeff you just missed the 75th Fiddlers' Convention, I don't know if you've ever been but it the worlds largest, drunkest, best blue grass you'll find. lol.
Been several times, Aaron (if you're talking about Galax). Buddy of mine from W Jeffeson won best musician (overall), one year. He'd been playing the dobro (he plays 6 other instruments) for 21mos.. It IS a drunkfest, though......lol. You can tune into WPAQ and hear the contests, too. I've done that a few times. Yell at me next year, and we'll take the girls.
If you guys are srv fans and you are old enough to remember him 8/27/90 alpine valley .. very tuff day for me even twenty years later. This is my personal guitar hero. no one even comes close. R.I.P. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUl0g8e4yLo&feature=related
I really like SRV.He was one of the greatest. How about SRV and Healey http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XqU9RZqvFKY Another good one is Keb Mo.My nephew plays a little guitar so to introduce him to something other than what you hear on country radio,I took him to see him.FANTASTIC show. Just a taste. I love his style http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NN3MzflEIdA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dLiMXitJzvw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JtTmcZzR6kI How about this Robert Cray and Keb Mo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dh4JvtuvSgQ
