Sorry to hear about your luck John. Maybe you oughta come back to Kansas and hunt your old spots again!
Thanks Cole, might make it back to Kansas next season! The buck I shot went in right on a property line and I left notes on both gates last Friday, well yesterday the owner of the west side property called me and said he had just found my note and would make sure I got my rack if he could find it on his side, I'll be taking him and his wife out for dinner when I get back down there. He also sent me a trail cam picture of the buck I shot, I'll post it later if I can figure out how to move it from the cell phone to the PC.
Well boys i finally put one down...with a gun! He's my best to date and with as slow as this season has been for me I'm pumped to say the least. As soon as I get pics I'll post them Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
COngrats on the deer Buk. Well guys, today I was moving equipment around and I had to load a big chunk of my drill that a bracket broke on so I took it off and loaded it in the back of my truck. When I lifted it up to raise the tailgate, the ladder section on the piece folded over on my left middle finger, cut the piss out of it all the way across and to the bone at an angle. Went to the local clinic and they cleaned it up and stitched it up. They put a splint on it and taped it to my ring finger. Going back in a week to get the stitches out. I have no idea if I can draw my bow, I'm guessing I can since that finger really doesn't do anything but it's not going to feel too great. Saw a big one this afternoon, I think it was Crossbow but too much brush between us to identify him for sure. I may be back on him soon.
Well I got out with the rifle today and had a pretty good day. Started out with bumping a small doe that I could have shot but decided to let her go. As I was walking to my stand all I could hear was turkey yelps and gobbles and when I Finally got in the stand I looked to my left and saw about 12 hens and 3 strutting toms. I know there were more cause i kept hearing gobbling but none of these were gobbling. This went on from 6-10 am! Never heard so much turkey activity before and my stand looked like a battle zone from all the scratches on the ground. Well I didnt see anything until 10:50 when I saw what looked like a buck chasing a doe but turned out to be 2 bucks (one of them had spikes about 1.5 inches long which can be legally a doe here in NY) at 40 yards. Right after them came a Busted up buck following a doe, but the doe never gave me a shot. About 10 or 15 min later I saw a fawn about 90 yards away in some thick brush. Had a good shot a couple times but for some reason I decided not to pull the trigger when it crossed my crosshairs. After that I didn't see or hear a single deer. I also only heard about 20 shots the whole day which is nothing like what it was 6 years ago. Back then you heard 20 shots before legal shooting light. first 15 shots happened till 11 and then nothing till after 4pm. I can't lie i'm wishing I shot the fawn but there's always another day. I also got pics of a nice buck...let me know what you think of him.
It may not look big to you guys but hes a respectable deer by me. Im thinking hes 3.5 years old and in the 120's...what do you guys think he might be? Hopefully he comes within range next week.
Congrats on the buck BukFvr. Looking forward to Pics. Sorry about your finger CM, Hope it heals quick. That's a nice buck in a lot of places AT, good luck with him!
Here he is guys. Froze my tail off all day for him. Freezing rain, 35+ mph winds. I'm exhausted Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
