I don't think ill be able to. I gave the neighbor my buck tag and said if he feels up for the challenge he can take up the trail and tag the buck using my tag and he could keep the meat. Maybe he'll be able to find it.

I'm going to say this then let it be, if I can't or don't have the time to give every effort to recover an animal I rethink hunting. We owe more to the animals life than to send an arrow through one then give such little effort to recover. If I couldn't track the following day I'm not hunting. If I were you I'd try to find a way to track tomorrow, not leave it up to a neighbor who may if he feels like it. Like I said I feel we owe the animal more effort than what you've put in at this point.

I understand what your saying and I completely agree. I wouldn't say I didn't try to recover it as my father and I searched for 7 hours on our hands and knees in the thickest brush we've ever walked through, so I really don't think its fair to say that. Only reason I stopped was because for the last hour we couldn't find a single drop of blood past the last blood spot. Ill defiantly be trying to get out tomorrow but as you may remember I had quite a few deaths in the family so, I may be called to help with that. That's the only reason I might not be able make it out.

Well got out today for til 12 and then had the dog join me for the last hour. After explaining the shot to the professional and showing him the broadhead, he came to the conclusion that something must have happened when the BH expanded because the blades weren't bent and the arrow didn't penetrate more then a few inches. I've never had these BH's malfunction in the 5 deer I've shot with them so im going to chalk this up as user error. He also saw the blood and said that it looks like heart and lung blood. We tracked it for another hundred yards or so before we lost the trail. There wasn't a single drop of blood in from the point I backed out last night. I'm thinking that it was able to get one lung but didn't penetrate enough to catch the other. Just to clarify the shot was slightly quarter to but nothing less then an 85 degree angle. This is one of the worst feelings imaginable.

I as well had a bad morning. I shouldn't say bad because it was a great morning just bad outcome. I hung a stand off of the new cattle pasture. Spot looked great. The first deer in was a 4yr old 8 mid 120s type deer. I decided to take him and I came unglued lol. Ranged him for 30 he started walking, I grunted 3 times with my mouth before he stopped and I sent the arrow...for 30 yards... He trotted off like nothing happened. I ranged the spot he was standing, 35 yards. I've never shot at a deer as wound up as I was. Couldn't think straight. But it was still an awesome morning.

Nothing wrong with getting the Adrenalin pumping. Get out there and try it again!

Sounds like me last season. 135" 11 pointer is lucky I freaked out. Pretty sure I used my 40 pin at 17 yards.

Better than my day, I can't even get out hunting. I fought with a combine all day, had a hydraulic hose pull apart at the crimped end. I called the dealer after hours parts guy and he went in today and got me the hose, got home and it was an inch too short. After a 35 mile drive one way to the dealer...
I called him he said is there a part number on the old hose end, I gave it to him, same number as the new hose that won't fit...I drive back to town to a parts store have a new hose jerry rigged because of odd hose ends on original. Get back home and that sob is too short too. So now I have ~$175 in two hoses that won't work and a lost day of driving...I'm not a happy camper. I worked with it some more and got the newest hose to work....ish but it's bent and stretched to the point it'll never last long that way. Pretty sad when you get a new part from the company and it is made wrong. I'm going to bed...

It is all part of hunting and we have all done something like this! I like that people give a 110% to tracking the animals. We do owe them that since we are the predator in this sport. I tracked my buck for two and 1/2 days with no luck. I then came on a property that the owner would not let me go on. This morning my buddy saw my buck still on the hoof. I did find my arrow and I had the broadhead missing and 1 inch of the arrow. I hit shoulder so my guy should live but wounded. I hate it with a passion but I know this is part of hunting. I shoot a Bowtech Destroyer 350 with 75 lbs pull.

I drove down to one of the other farms to check on a dozer that's been sitting there for a while, right at dark. I counted something over twenty deer out in one of my double crop bean fields. One was this guy.

Hunting for a week and killing a buck doesn't make you "tagged out". Use some of your 5 doe tags and help out with ratios. Sorry...just a new pet peeve of mine.

The "Tagged Out in Ohio" thread here. It didn't bother me until it was close to home. It's just the usage...you aren't tagged out if you still have 5 tags.
