I'm not here to be critiqued!!! Redneck ingenuity prevails again with the tailgate tripod and my broken arrow stuffed under the camera to get it pointing the right direction.

Congrats man! I still wonder why you couldn't shoot all these deer when we were on the same team last year :) .

No kidding! My 2 deer this season would have put us in the lead last year. I learned a lot about hunting this property last season...

I've been trying to find a trail cam pic of my buck, but he was either a ghost or just hanging out for the rut. I really think he could be a buck I named Unibrow last season. He was a weekly visitor to the mineral sites and got a pass (twice) for having a broken main beam.

Well, don't let me score your deer! I'm back from the taxidermist and have a semi-official score...

Nice! Use the gross score for the contest too.

I had initially planned on taking Thursday off to hunt. Pretty good chance of rain in the forecast so I decided I will be taking Friday off instead. Will be hunting in our pasture. I will be about 150 yards south of a doe bedding area and about 400 yards east of where I saw the two shooters on Sunday morning. There is a 20° temperature swing from Wednesday to Thursday which is bringing that rain system in. High of 49° on Friday so I'm hoping being relatively close (but downwind) of the bedding area will have a decent chance of some scent checking going on. Gun season opens here Saturday so I am really, really hoping I can get it done. My chances of a buck after gun season diminish substantially but does are usually pretty easy to set up for so I will get at least 50 points for us.

Going out this weekend and hunting hard. Probably going to do some all day sits. You guys ever hunt places with cows? There is one section of the farm I was waiting until rut to hunt. It has cut corn to the west and bedding area east. Come to find out the cattle farmer moved the cows into the cut corn, put a hot fence around it and everything. You guys still think I should try it?

Yes. We have 120 acres of pasture and that's where I've seen all but one of my shooters this year and just about every year I can remember.

I haven't had much experience with cattle, I figured the deer would be to skiddish but I'll take your word for it! :tu:

Not at all if it's a part of their every day habits. I know there's guys on here that hate hunting anywhere near cattle. I personally do not hunt in the same pasture as the cattle but have had them within 100 yards and didn't chance my sightings at all. Many times in the summer i'll see our cattle and deer in the same pastures feeding amongst each other. Give it a try the first morning and if you're not comfortable or think it has negative effects, still plenty of time to move!

My dad is posting the pics all over Facebook and he makes sure to say that I'm 6'8" 250lbs...so the buck is bigger than it looks in my hands. :moose:

With a draw length that comes from that kind of frame, do your arrows have a ball of fire on the broadhead as it's going down range!?
