Fingers crossed for you buddy! Good luck, you going in the morning? Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
Yeah, going to give him the night. It's suppose to rain but looks like so far it's all missing us for the most part. Decided I'd rather wait until morning and grid search if I have to than push him any more than I already have. Hope I have good news in the morning.
This would be him. Saw him a few times last year from stand, he was a small framed 8 point with some junk. I've gotten pics off and on all summer but nothing lately, tonight was my first setup on this property, setup on the edge of his bedding area and he came out following a doe and fawn. Not a ton of history, but some.
Good luck tomorrow! Its a beautiful buck. Im not sure if you have this where you are but here in NY we have trained trackers and with dogs that can come out and assist you on finding your deer. Its completely free but you usually have to call them in advance. I highly suggest you take advantage of that if its available in your state.
I found 1 in my area, I'm going to take a look at 1st light then see if I can get a hold of them. It's raining currently so that's not the best news. He was bleeding hard, no sign of clotting, and if I bumped him that close to where I saw him stop he's got to be in rough shape so fingers are crossed.
He was piled up this morning about 100 yards from where I gave up last night. Here is a pic of how he was found, I'll get some better pics up later.
I just got permission to hunt a small woodlot that has hay to the West and beans on the East. I'm assuming, with the beans turning yellow, that these are both late season destinations. What are some tips to hunting over a large food source?
My advise is to try to figure out bedding and push the envelope setting up as close as possible, catch them leaving bedding not entering or in the food. Another advantage to this is getting out at dark, on the field edge you'll be busting deer, near bedding they should move past and not hold up at your location after dark allowing you to slip out. Good luck.
Pure...where da pics dude?! We need pics we need pics we need pics... Don't forget to take two pics with your bow, you and the deer and enter them bud,
