Buck #1 came out of the bedding area, too bad he was a 1 yo 4 point. Came through perfect, locked up at about 5 yards when he hit my scent, couldn't figure it out then continued on. Got to love young ones! Buck 2 coming!
Buck 2 was a basket 8 pt, did the same thing but tried to figure out my scent a bit longer but couldn't and continued on. If a big boy comes I know where I have to kill him!
Nothing more showed up tonight, but can't complain for an opener. Tomorrow the wind is suppose to shift to the SW and I'm going in blind on some public adjacent to soybeans I've glassed a 150 class 12, 130 class 8, and a 12 that is lobsided so won't score hight but a mature stud!
Man Pure...that doe looks huge. She looked like she should have been carrying about twelve points on her head, lol.
Her dressed weight ended up at 105, good sized especially early season but nothing out of the ordinary. Thanks for the congrats guys, hope I can keep fueling the fire for the upcoming season for everyone!
We'll, tonight's plans fell through, wind was supposed to be SW and get there and it's blowing north. I changed plans and setup on some burr and red oaks adjacent to bedding, nice night at least. The good news is, the beans aren't even starting to yellow in the field they're feeding in so I have more time. On the drive I passed 7 different public land spots, I have spots I plan to hunt in 5 of then, there were 4 cars in the parking lots of the 2 propertiez I have no intentions to hunt the rest are empty. I guess my view of good spots differs from the norm!!
Also the spot I'm in is my buddies favorite spot, he's in Kodiak Alaska hunting, only fair I hunt is favorite spot right.
Lol, that's what I'd say! Pulled cards today, I think I had about every regular on camera still but pics were way down and feeders aren't going dry like usual. I'm pretty sure some acorns are starting to drop, two pin oaks here in the yard are dropping a few at least. They are hammering the soybeans hard right now too. I didn't get Gnurley on camera this time and Maverick I just got maybe a couple of pics of off in the distance. The big wide nine point showed back up though and Bone-afied is completely done shedding. I'll post up a few pics when I get a chance.
Ended up seeing 11 tonight, last light a 120ish 8 point came out of a bedding area. Probably a 3yo, wasn't close and even if he was to young and small.
