I got my bow back from the shop yesterday, shoots great, had it zeroed back in less than ten minutes out to thirty yards (limit of their indoor range). Also bought a Rhino block, those things are awesome!
Covey, Nebo the PET DEER was injured and was nursed back to health. Since he was used to humans he has ben pen raised after that. He had a broken jaw that healed wrong so his tongue hangs out of his mouth most of the time. Normally you can walk in the pen and he will follow you around. We DO NOT go in the pen when he has hard horns though! This is my daughter a few years back with Nebo! As to being a butt head, he is rubbing off the velvet and does not want to be bothered right now.
I picked up my tags and some last minute supplies today, so I'm ready to go on the 26th. I have another stand and cam to hang tomorrow...and then I'm done!
I still have four stands to move or set up. A ladder stand, a climber and two redneck blinds that we've lost the keys to... I hadn't been shooting my bow at all because of the string looking shabby, hadn't shot it since late spring. I shot the crap out of it yesterday evening after I got home. Man, I'm feeling it today... I was surprised I was pulling the 75# back as easily as ever after not drawing any all summer but now I definitely "feel it".
All I have to do is get my deer tags. I am not going back out until the start of season now. I have to knock down some early geese and some doves right now.
Thanks! Yeah when I started looking at new compounds a couple years ago when I decided to get back into archery, I was looking around on the internet at bows and went to Hoyts site first since that was what my old bow was. I opened their site and there was the new (at that time) carbon element in blackout, decked out with blue trim. I thought that was the coolest looking bow I'd ever seen and fell in love with it. I started calling around and found a couple in stock that were 60-70# but I wanted a 70-80# and no one had one. Finally found a local shop 35 minutes away that the owner had just bought one for himself exactly like I was looking for. He said he'd part with it if that's what I wanted so I drove down to that shop that evening and bought it. Took a while to finally get the last piece of blue on it which was the string. I kinda wish I'd have ordered a third brighter color in that string rather than just blue and black. I like it but it's almost too dark to see the blue. White or an electric blue highlight in it would have probably set it off just right. Oh well, I like it as is. The arrows are new, they replace my old beemans with green and white fletchings.
