WOW!! What a crazy last couple days of gun season here in NY. As of last Tuesday night the meathooks were empty. Nothing hanging and all the deer cut and packaged. It was pretty lonely in the ole butcher shop. This past weekend was the last weekend for the gun season in NY. I have two sons hunting this year (14 & 16). My 14 year old got a nice buck a couple weeks ago. So that leaves him with 2 doe tags and my 16 year old with 1 buck and 2 doe tags (hasn't killed anything yet). Saturday they both kill a doe. Sunday(last day) my 16 year old kills a doe and 30 seconds later a buck (tagged out). My 14 year old that same day(about the same time) kills another doe (tagged out). Lol talk about a good last weekend. Meanwhile I'm getting texts and calls from everyone else in our little hunting camp (pretty much myself and 3 others). Two of the 3 got a buck and a doe and the other one got 2 does. Unreal! Went from a vacant basement to 11 deer to cut up. Myself? I've pretty much been trying to get my kids a deer, sitting with them, video taping, taking pics, helping gutting, dragging, hanging, setting everyone else up, falling down cliffs cutting my head open cetc... Havent' actually had my bow out and hunted by myself for awhile. Absolutely loving every minute of it though. But alas........ gun season is over and I have a little over a week to myself for late archery/muzzleloader. I think the rage will find some flesh before it's over. Been a season to remember. p.s. anyone else have a knife and know how to butcher I pay well (food and beer that is) Looks like I'm going to be busy between hunts.
