Try spraying the shed down with some scent eliminating products and see if it slows your dog down. Would be interesting.

I do all kinds of stuff to eliminate my scent while hog hunting and no matter what, once you walk through the area one time they know your there and you'll never see the smart boars again. Best hunt day is always the first because we smell like humans.

Wiped a shed down today with old Tinks scent wipes and he walked right over it a couple times today before he grabbed it.

Thanks for the tips. I am going to give this a shot this next season and hopefully save money.

Try doing it for a few days and see if he keeps doing that. My guess is it smelled different and he didn't know what he was looking for. I would bet after a few times he'll figure it out and nail it everytime.

I use to go through all the scent elimination stuff and wore one of those carbon suits. I use to hunt a lot within walking distance from the house. If my wife let the dog out he would be right under my tree even if it was an hour after I left. Kind of made me wonder why I was spending all that money.
Now days, I don't think we can eliminate our scent at all. At best we can tone it down a little. All I do now is wash in scent free soap/shampoo use scent free deo and wash my clothes in baking soda. I store them outside in a big tote. Some days I had deer down wind of me and never knew I was there, some days they knew I was around but wasn't sure where or how far and some days, they knew exactly where I was just as soon as they hit my scent stream. We never know how the wind is blowing where the deer is, maybe its still 20 feet over their head and that's why they don't smell us on those days. Honestly, I do my scent control stuff more trying to tone down how long my ground scent stays around. I think ground scent scares or alerts more deer than wind scent because its still there even after we are gone.

Scent control is ridiculously out of control nowadays, i get washing your cloths and spraying down but some of the stuff people do it outrageous. Im not sure on the baking soda method though. I buy one big thing of Dead Down Wind every year and still manage to kill deer

I agree with everyone that you need to play the wind but the problem is that buck doesn't always read the script and come in on cue from the perfect trail, especially during the rut. I think it is important to make sure you can stay as scent free as possible so when things don't go as plan you still have a chance to get the job done.
