I just started thinking of this last week. My son will be the only one with my family's last name. My younger brother does not have any kids and I don't think he will have any. My older brother is my half brother on my mother's side and does not carry our last name. Both of my dad's brother's only had girls so neither of them will be carrying on our last name.

That just leaves my son as the only one that will be carrying my family's last name forward. YIKES!

Are any of you the last one's carrying your family's last name?

I was the last one in my family with my last name until two years ago. Now my son is the very last one.

My dad lost all rights to custody when I was 4, the dumb bastard couldn't get it together. Because of his bright outlook on life I no longer carry my true last name. I also have no kids so it is a double whammy!!!:bash:

Im the last that we know of. And I do not plan on having any kids. Im only 24 and people have been saying for years that Ill change over time, but I dont see that happening. Kills my poor dad too because im the third with the same name...so not only does he want me to carry on the Cook name but also the first and middle name. Kids are not worth all that they are in my opinion...Ill let you other guys take care of that for me and Ill hold onto my money and sanity hahaha

There were 9 children born to Zarr men in my dad's generation - 2 boys and 7 girls. So it was up to myself and my cousin to carry on the family name. My wife just gave birth to our first son on Friday, so as of now it's up to him. We're not done yet, so there may be another one before it's all said and done. My cousin isn't fit to have kids, so I hope he doesn't.

Part of me feels bad for my father-in-law. He was the last hope for the Lazores, and had two daughters. So the name, at least in his branch of the family, will end with him. Pretty crazy stuff when you really think about it.

In good times and bad there is nothing like being a father. I look at what my son and daughter have become with great pride. My son was the last to carry the name and he has a son now that will carry the torch for the family.

Justin, I agree. And since I am drinking some brews tonight and am a little dramatic I also thought of this...my dad's side of the family came to the US over 300 years ago and my son is the last one right now to carry on the name. And to top it all off, I am living right in the same area that my ancestors came over and in fact I patrol at work within a mile or two of where they landed.

Nope, there's enough of us left at this point to continue on..... although, there have been a lot of girls and the number of boys has shrunk. My son has no kids. My one brother has 2 boys and they have sons.... we're good. My father in law was the end of his lineage. His brother had no sons or kids and died. To perpetuate the name in a way I suggested my sons name be Dixon. My father in laws last name. The Dixon family in my childhood were also my God Parents. No connection on the Dixon.... just the same name.

When I was 16 I found my father, we have put the past behind us and through him I finally understood who I was because my adoptive father was a jackwagon.

As for the GTG you better watch out, if I get elbow surgey after hunting season and can finally get my full range of motion back you are toast!!:bash:

With a last name like "Yikes!" is this such a bad thing? I have mostly brothers and we all had plenty of sons so the sir name of "Longcoch" is in no way in jeopardy.

Thanks for the kind words Brett! The wife has lost twins and two other pregnancies, we are running out of time but we are back in business so God willing things might turn for the best this go around.
