is it just me or is your last sit/day of the hunting season the hardest? i think back over my years of hunting and i can almost recall all my last sits of each season. almost as vivid as every deer i've ever taken! whether it be in the rain/snow or a nice sunny day, all of them different but linked the same as the last sit. missed chances, shots that sailed too high or low and some that made their mark. time with buddies, family and strangers that may not be strangers anymore after a quick chat on the trail or at the range. ups and downs of getting turned away time and time again asking landowners for permission and then that ONE who says yes and makes it all worth it. the last glance down at my watch, [16:45] a few more minutes of the 08-09 season. i will miss you hunting season, but i'll be back in october... hope all of yall had a good and safe season, mine will be over today
I know what you mean. I do a lot of reflecting on the last sit. Especially if it's a morning sit. I find myself stopping a lot on my way back to the truck, just looking around and remembering what was and what could have been. Just taking the whole thing in. Back at the truck, I take longer to get my gear put away. Almost like I'm extending the season as long as possible. Good luck on your last day, Isaiah.
yeah, I know what you mean. It's a bummer. But only 9 months till hunting season opens again. Thank goodness for ice fishing season, and the summer fishing, and of course the annual gtg.
This year will be bittersweet for my last day. Not only will my season end, but the spot I have hunted for 6 seasons will come to an end. I plan to end it where I started in the stand Mechdoc hunted most of this year and where I have killed most of my deer including the largest off of the property. My plan for Thursday is to chill in the stand and look back at all the great times I had this year and the previous years and look forward to new beginnings.
