Good plan. I wish I had the discipline to do this. the only downside is if you need a loan for something major, your screwed.

We're talking about gasoline, here. I don't purchase gasoline on credit, either. I buy with cash, too. I just use a card to do it.

Credit isn't your enemy. Credit is your friend. Use it. Don't allow it to use you.

How do you rent a car? Make a plane reservation? Hotel reservation? Buy anything online? Etc..., etc..., etc....

Exactly, I pay just about everything with my debit card. I sometimes use my Cabelas card but pay it off each month so no interest for me. :) Actually, I want to use my Cabelas card for everything and just pay it off each month to get even more points.

They accept debit and credit, I just choose to save .03¢ a gal when I use cash.

I too go to the bank to make deposits, that's when I withhold what cash I'm gonna need so no extra trips required. Now does that make sense to you?

BTW, fuel is one of only a couple things I pay for with cash. Everything else is debit or credit (in which I haven't paid interest on in over 7 years).

Sure it does.....if you're going to have to go to the bank, anyways. My point was/is....I wish I NEVER had to go. I didn't, for years (maybe 3-4X a year).

Fitz....how long would it take the retailer to make up for the 3-7% cc fees......if the people boycotting his place (due to being inconvenienced) would again become patrons? It's a business decision. Conceded. My "guess" is.....the ones NOT accepting credit/debit cards are in the VAST minority for a reason.

Your vacation? What would you have done, if you refused to use debit cards (as I was addressing another poster)? How would you have traveled?

Depends on the business I suppose. It's their choice, shouldn't be forced on them by law (as I was addressing another poster). :busted:

I guess I misread your post GMMAT. Sorry. The middle line was talking strictly about 'credit' then you posed the question. I assumed you were still talking 'credit'.

No (not talking cc). I don't even carry one. I use a debit card, because it's convenient for ME. I don't patronize businesses that don't accept them (actually, I can't even think of one that doesn't, currently).

You guys are lucky, I always have to swipe the card twice to fuel up.

Once to wait til it clicks off at the $75 pay at the pump limit, and another to click off between $15-30 depending on how empty and diesel prices. That's why I LOVE truck stops, no freaking card limit at the pumps.

You want to talk annoying? Why am I paying more for diesel than you are for gasoline by 20-30 cents/gallon when it is a less refined fuel. It should be much cheaper, as it used to be.

That's the second reason I pay with cash, I can't fill up on their $75.00 limit.

I agree and for the life me I can't figure it out...Other than greed and price gouging. It wasn't that way until about 4 or 5 years ago, diesel was always quite a bit cheaper than regular gas, the same .20¢ to .30¢ most of the time.

I just pay with my Cabela's card. I get the points, and I don't have to prepay and experience to death trickle.

Driving the truck I do, I would have to pull in on fume with gas above $3.30 gallon for me to ever get near the $75 mark, and that's with 265/75/16 Terra Grapplers. It's pretty much why I drive the truck I do. There were times when gas was lower, that I debated trading it in on a diesel or fullsize, and I still could really use the extra size, but mine is paid for, I put around $30/7-10days into in fuel driving 120 miles to work + extra running around, so I'm happy.

I do all twice a month with a debit card. I think it's horse **** that you are forced to have to have a credit card. I shouldn't have to have a credit card to rent a car. I have more on my debit card than I would ever have a credit limit for on a credit card. I have got to an airport before and went to rent a car where I had a reservation with. They told me that they would have to put a $500 "hold" on my bank account. I walked to the next counter (Alamo) and gave them my debit card and there were no questions asked. Being forced to use/have a credit card really chaps my ass.

Tell me about It!! Pisses me off big time!! I could actually make a good living If diesel was cheaper then gas like It used to be. My milk truck gets 4 mpg. Imagine what my diesel bill Is each month.
