As many of you know, Mike and I are leaving Saturday morning for 10 straight days of deer hunting bliss. We're starting our trip off for 3 1/2 days of hunting at our lease in Brown County with none other than one of our favorite Rut Junkie's Mr. Dan Shaffer and one of his buddies from Wisconsin. Dan arrived at the lease late Tuesday night and spent yesterday hanging stands. When he called me last night he said deer where EVERYWHERE. I think he said they saw like 9 diffrent bucks on our lease while hanging stands, 3 of which were shooters. Pretty much everywhere they walked on this property there were deer. Needless to say, that fired us up! On Tuesday the 4th we pack up and head down even further South for the Campbell Outdoor Challenge again. The first Challenge is being held right now through Sunday and one of the teams already put a 150" 10 point on the ground, and I know there's bigger bucks around. They pulled several deer over 160" out of there last year, and one over 200" as well. We'll be hunting the 5th-10th down there which puts is in the prime time. If we don't come home with at least one P&Y buck in the truck, and on film, I will be VERY surprised. I wouldn't say it's out of the question to come home with two - one from the lease, and one from Campbells. In any case, I can't WAIT to get on the road. Less than 48 hours to go! Rob - when are you leaving for IL again??

I know, I was hoping you guys could help us drag a few deer but I guess there's always next year! Depending on how things go we may be making another trip the 15th-17th, so maybe we can hook up then if you're gonna be around?

Dan seemed pretty fired up when I spoke with him last night. I guess Johnny was going back to one of their stands to trim a few branches & when he got there, sure enough, a nice buck was already under the stand! I'm sure you guys will have a great hunt... Good luck to ya, Justin & Mike
I've got that itch too pretty bad at this point. I've been on 7 overnight trips around the country this month for work, and its really pulled away from my time at home and in the woods so far. Ive only climbed a tree for 8 sits so far this year. This Saturday though I leave to spend 9 straight days in the woods with no access to work email/voicemail.........and I can't wait. Good Luck Guys, I too talked to Dan S. last night on the phone and while we were talking he and John were glassing bucks, does ..it was nuts! Sounds like you guys are in em thick. Hammer a few goods ones and leave one or two for the RJ staff!
