I like what Heckler came up with so if nobody has any objections lets go with that. Weigh in by the end of the day if you oppose.
Sorry I was way late checking in this year. Lost track of time. Anyway I'm looking forward to having a good season. Not seeing much on cams right now, but that always changes around October. I hunt both private and public land here in N. TEXAS. Our season starts Oct. 3. Planning on slinging arrows in both Oklahoma and Texas this season!
Nice, we got a full squad now. Oklahoma is one state I love to hunt my buddy has acces to hunt a military base down there and it is unreal hunting!
Welcome to the team Flyguy. Quick update for me. We bought a new house so its been pretty crazy around here starting to get things packed for the move and try to sell our current house but I have been able to find time to start going over all of my hunting gear to see what I need to replace, fix, etc... I shot all my hunting arrows the other day and was pleased to see all of my Nocturnal's were still lighting up nice and bright. I will be heading down to our farm labor day weekend to check straps, put up a new ground blind, fill the boss buck one last time, and pull cards.
Leave in 8 hours for a 10 day Bear Hunt and Trapping trip to Maine.. then will come home to some Missouri hunting..
Good luck Hunteropel! Until I get pictures I will add that I will hunt both WI and MN this year. In MN if you see pictures posted by MonsterRaxx those are of deer I too am hunting. In WI I hunt a variety of properties all concentrated within 5 miles of each other. My 1st property is a 80 acres, but due to a portion of ti being assure we haven't had great luck with it hunting well. The back 40 hunts much better. I have another property that is part of a ridge system and is about 32 acres. I also lease an 80 and the neighbor let me lease an adjacent 80 last year too, however, I haven't been able to confirm access to that yet this year. Lastly, I bought an 80 January 1 that I've hunted the past 5 years. It is great property, however, it is likely being logged this fall yet and therefore this brings about its own obstacles.
Well I officially start hunting next week with my boy during youth season. Going to use the time to do a lot of scouting and see if we can get him on a big buck early! We will be shooting the x-bow a lot this weekend. What is everyone else doing to get ready?
I have been pretty lagging in the fitness department this summer and since I hold a desk down its pretty easy to get out of shape and gain 15 pounds. So I have started to get back into it with long walks and soon some jogging. Hoping by Oct 1st to be back in good enough shape to handle most of the terrain at our place. That's exciting hunting with your boy, hope you stick a good un. I had been shooting a bunch to prep for the season. Last Sunday I went to ohio to hang a new stand and some more cams. The only tree that was Perfect for this overgrown field that is conveniently in the middle of oaks in a saddle was absolutely covered in poison oak. I ask God please don't let me get poison on my face and I proceeded to put the stand up. Now one week later I'm covered in the poison!! Hope it's worth it, the way I look at it high risk high reward. I also Also have 10 cams around different properties in Pa, I need to pull cards tho to see what's hiding out there. I went to a new spot that borders a new development of homes and a shutdown golf course. I went in to check it out and hang a cam and I jumped 2 very nice bucks the one is a buck I believe my buddy had a pic of last day of gun seasons just a mile down the road where he hunts. He was big last year but he is a freaking pig for my area. I'm just hoping I didn't bump him too bad and he stays around and I get some good pics of him. This is the pic by buddy got of him.
Well, they got it working again, for which I'm grateful. Now I can share pics throughout the season! I'll be checking 2 cams tomorrow.
