Just came across this. https://rumble.com/v13o0wm-rising-n...rn-performs-an-original-song-back-togeth.html
So I mentioned A.J watches then helps me in the woods. Today he was on a roll and I got pics. I was pushing over dead saplings and stacking them when I heard a lot of growling behind me. He was busy taking down dead saplings. He learned what is dead and not by watching me. Later the back of my legs got slapped. A.J. had an 8 ft sapling in his mouth and he hauled it to me to be stacked. SORRY LOADED BACWARD. START AT BOTTOM PIC AND GO UP.
What started as a decent day just turned into a sucky one. Our Great Pyrenees, Roxy, can’t get up and walk any more. Shes 12 1/2 years old now and she’s been having a lot of trouble getting up for a while, but now the time is finally here, and even though we knew it was coming we just weren’t ready. It’s a real gut-wrencher. She’s been such a fantastic guardian for us and at the same time such a gentle giant with anyone who visited once we told her it was okay for them the be here. It also really sucks because she’s still alert. She hasn’t lost much in the way of mental faculties at all, but she’s a 110 pound dog that can’t stand or walk and we already know it will just get worse. We’ll be heading to the vet in about an hour and we’ll have to say one last goodbye to a fantastic friend. February 2010 at 3 months old. Today, 25 May 2022:
I am so sorry to hear this ,condolences. I completely understand for as I mentioned a few years ago we went through exactly the same thing with our boys. Both huge shepherds over a hundred #'and about the same age. Bright eyed and alert but needed to be wheeled into vets on a table. The only saving grace was when saying good bye I knew they had not been in a great deal of pain or any long suffering from illness. GOD Bless
Sorry to hear this. I knew the day was coming with my dog too, but you'll never be ready for it. Just know that this is the last act of love you can do for your dog.
I feel like I'm purdy keen on how people love/respect their dogs. I can tell you (LC) ,were/are a great guy in that respect. My heart goes out to you tonight. There are no words suitable enough to put in print for the loss of a good dog.
My old dog Roscoe is failing fast. Few people have been able to work/sleep/eat/hunt of just spend nearly 24 hours a day/365 with their dog . I have. He's been so incredible since I got him at 8 weeks it unreal. He's a passionate hunter but on of his true loves is having my dirty old stinky hat under his head. Like a pillow. At my cabin tonight, drinking some beer and reminiscing about our 12 1/2 years together. It's been an unreal ride. He was kinda agitated a bit ago (uncomfortably) so I gave him my hat. Put his head on it and fell asleep in a minute. Damn I love my dog.!!
This guy turns 15 tomorrow, always gotten a porterhouse bone with some meat left on in the past. Just going to brown up some deer burger this time, he doesn't need any bone shards or choking hazards.
it's more money, but if you can I highly recommend using an in-home service. Less stress for everyone involved. My dog got to die in his own bed that he had humped thousands of times. What's better than that? ...wife and I got to hold his head as he took his last breaths. We got to cry it out in our own home. I didn't have to drive him there or back... Best of a really bad situation. They also provide cremation or whatever you want to do.
I went fishing again today. Every few minutes I’d remember what happened yesterday and I’d feel like crap. I just finished filleting today’s catch and I just cracked one open, so I’m taking your advice Ash.
We did that with our Golden Retriever Minuet a few years ago. It was expensive even though the vet was close, but like you said, it was “stress free” for the dog. Since we live out in the boonies now it would have cost a lot to do that.
