I could never leave my animal alone to do that. For the exact reason that specialist said. Ben dog goes in today to get neutered. Hoping his spot is contained to the testee and we have no worries. Hubby is dropping him off (oh he was mad I made him do it because it's hunting season lol) - but I'll grab him after work.
Cried and talked to both my Labs as they went to sleep...held them and said good by...year and a half gone...crying again...does not get any easier as time goes by...dont want to go thru it again
I've never told roscoe to fetch a pumpkin but I just did. I'll be damned if he didnt He's so damn smart it's unreal!
It was a mast cell tumor. Hard to tell if it'll spread or not. They removed his scrotum and hopefully that will be the last of it. With him being young, they're hoping it's just low grade.
He went with us laying on the floor with him and our other pup. No way would I let him go without being there. Sent from my SM-G996U using Tapatalk
Worst part of putting down my dog last month was the fact that the whole family had COVID and we had to say goodbye in the parking lot since the vet wouldn't let us in. I would never have done that if it could have been avoided.
Does anyone cook their dogs meals? With the cancer mine has, it is best to do a low carb/high protein diet. He needs to come off the processed food as these tumors are reactions to antihistamines. A fresh diet will slow down any possible new growths. It looks very complicated. Like, only meat is turkey or chicken but has to be cooked at a simmer as higher temps cause antihistamines to form. Then he can have vegetables and brown rice. So yeah, meal prepping for a dog now. But, would be open to insight if anyone has any!
I know my dad does for my beagle. He usually does rice and beef or pork. He does it because she won't touch any processed food. She'd go several days without eating if he didn't make her food. Sometimes he even uses deer meat. Just to get her to eat. My dog that lives with me I have to keep him on a high protein diet. He has a skin condition that if he goes off it for a day or two, he gets pretty scabby, and loses his hair. I feed him crave whitefish kibble, and Blue Buffalo wilderness Denali dinner which is also mostly fish. Not sure if that helps narrow it down. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
I do not meal prep for my dog but used to for my parrot. Only suggestion I have is I would make a big batch once a month, portion it out in to baggies then freeze so it was easy to pull out a couple days worth at a time. Green bean, beans, brown rice, meat of choice
Thanks - those were two kibbles on the list. I'm debating between that or just meal prepping fresh foods all together. Tackle - that's what I plan on doing - meal prepping and freezing. I just didn't plan on this change and of course grocery prices are sky high. Next year, I'll at least be able to account for extra chickens/turkeys, etc.
Last month the wife's little house dog ( Taz ) got sick so we took her in. She has congestive heart failure and the vet figured she was not going to make it much longer even with meds. Been a month and the meds are helping a little but not as good as we hoped. You hate to give up on her but you also hate to see her suffer when she has her spells. The wife is going to have to make the hard decision. It's her baby. She is 13 years old and has had a very pampered, great life. For an extremely annoying yapper dog who likes biting my fingers, toes and once the nose... she has been quite a fun dog. I am not looking forward to this.
Every year I have to cook a dinner, mainly so he can have his plate. Every year it's never enough... Spoiled little chit!
