Again its not the one specific lady. Its the sheer quantity I notice. Its some people I know at work, neighbors, through family and acquaintances combined with what I see. Maybe my sampling size isn't big enough.

    I'm probably wrong.

Sent from my phone so please excuse my brevity.

My suburban is the Z71 package and I honesty just like the stance of it with 4 wheels drive. Have only just started using the 4x4 but really glad I have it.

How many people own Vettes or Porsches and never race them on a road course? Is it status or just something that they like?

I am not sure how someone can be annoyed by a truck/suv regardless of it's contents. What annoys me the most are these loud gas guzzling hot rods / high performance cars running around here. They are by no means practical in any way.

My daily driver is a full size SUV. It has 3 children car seats in the second row and the cargo area always has something in it.

I still miss the bed of a truck. I quickly learned an SUV isn't a replacement...... That's why I have both!

I guess it just goes down with one person in a 7 passenger SUV or an old man driving below the speed limit in his Dodge Viper. Things that make you go Hmmmmm.

If you ever need to get rid of truck - go with a small trailer...I picked up a very small 4x8 (equivalent to full size truck bed actually) with wood sides...the nice thing is you can beat the living crap out of it with no worry of it being your truck or decreasing value. Plus for yard jobs it's nice that all week long I can load it with grass, leaves, shrub clippings, whatevery...and just dump it on the weekend and not haul it around all week or have to store in trash cans or something.

...still something cool/country/redneck about a pick-up though...makes for good country music:)

Your referring to the one in the garage right, cause that's the only real vehicle I see!

I drive a 3/4 truck that gets overloaded on a fairly regular basis. But I do sometimes drive it around unloaded... and just in case driving it around without a bed full of stuff doesn't tick off the easily offended.. my bumperstickers should. ;)

I used to have a '79 Lincoln continental. Almost 20' long. 460 engine.... yeah, it was so overkill that it was awesome. I did use it for hunting trips. You can fit a lot of bodies in the trunk of one of those babies. It was my mom's car. Before this she had a 1970 Cadillac with 500 engine. She also had a 1970 firebird and an old Buick Wildcat. I'm not sure how sensitive folks were back in the day about such things.. but surely a 5' Japanese woman in control (mostly) of that much motorized steel and muscle would tick someone off. :D

oh and.......... being a larger guy(having larger friends), riding in a larger vehicle is a lot easier to get around/comfort. i hear what you are saying about the status too, couldnt we make that argument for houses, boats, caliber on firearms, bow speed. bigger/faster is better? regardless if its needed or not

sorry i re-read back "annoys you"... yeah i can see that. prob most annoying is when folks have trouble driving/parking them to me

You can't tow your big boat, or snowmobile trailer with a damn Escape. No, you don't need it every day.... but once in a while you got to haul crap and tow crap and a damn VW Bug won't do it. When I lived in Maryland 4 of us used to pile clothes and golf clubs in a Yukon to go to South Carolina for a week. You can't do that with an Escort.

It is indeed. Big step up from the Camry I bought from her...but driving the average 3k miles per year she does, I'm not sure she is the best source for it's dependability. lol Buddy of mine snapped this pic while out making the mowing rounds one day this spring and sent it to me down here in Bama, I didn't even notice her car showing in the back.

Pretty hefty price tag, but she loves it. Has more features than you could possibly imagine and surprisingly roomy/comfortable inside. She decided to cash in on record low interest rates and her surprisingly hefty teacher retirement to pay for it.

If that is the only reason for driving a bigger vehicle, the gas savings in daily driving can dang near pay for a second vehicle. I know it is on pace to in my case.

I drove 30,000 miles last year in my car (not counting truck mileage for the trips where hauling/cargo was required)

    In my Truck that equals 30,000miles/11mpg = 2727 gal x $3.50 = $9544.50

    In my car that equals 30,000miles/26mpg = 1153 gal x $3.50 = $4038.46

That is a savings of $5,506.04 in fuel for the first year alone. My Full coverage for the truck (extra vehicle) costs $410/year bringing the savings down to around $5000 even.

I bought the car assuming that over 4 years the gas savings would pay for the car itself...but I was off. The car cost me $12k, so I'm on pace to have it paid for in 2.5 years (even quicker actually with gas prices rising)....This doesn't even consider the value saved on the truck without the additional 30k/year added to the odometer...

Sometimes you can have your cake and eat it too.

I don't want 2 vehicles. I don't care what gas cost. When I run out of money... Obama will give me all I need. LOL
