This is exactly why I hate what the Media is doing in the Tryvon Martin/George Zimmerman case. So far, Spike Lee's ignorance has caused a 70 year old couple to evacuate their home after he tweeted their address as that of George Zimmerman and now a kid gets set on fire because "he deserved it". http://articles.nydailynews.com/2012-03-04/news/31122324_1_white-boy-fire-tv-station How much more senseless backlash will this case cause because the Media has nothing better to do like honor fallen war heroes?
Also, lets not jump to conclusions on that incident. Do we know all the facts? Do we know he was actually set on fire for being white? Maybe the victim has beat up one of the attackers previously? Maybe he was bullying them? Maybe he used racial slurs toward them? Lets not let the media spin this into more racial divide. You know how they like to do that. Sort of like how you tied that case to the Martin/Zimmerman one...when they aren't related whatsoever. Lets wait for all the facts before we make conclusions.
I'm pretty sure the kid getting set on fire happened totally unrelated to the martin/zimmerman thing. A co-worker sends me all sorts of "breaking" news links & various odd stories, and I believe those came in about the same time, and the Martin thing hadn't even gotten much press yet.
I did miss the date on the original story SO the question is why does the media get obsessed with a White/Hispanic on Black hate crime and not a Black on White hate crime?
It baffles me that people ask this question. Do you really not know the answer? C'mon... I am some times surprised how naive people can be.
We don't have the facts. So what if the victim bullied or beat up one of these kids. Are those things wrong YES! That by no means is justification for that level of retaliation.
I know you didn't. Sorry if I insinuated otherwise. I was just stating my toughts on those scenarios being possible. If that makes any sense.
